The young guy was stupid - stupid drunk as well - I doubt very much it was premeditated - he was stupid, the courts will deal with his stupidity and he will live with the shame the rest of his life - wouldn't be surprised if his employers let him go as well.
This will cost him dearly and, yes, I'm aware it'll cost Celtic dearly as well, but he won't be the first or last person to do something stupid when they were drunk.
p.s. I absolve all the paragons of virtue on here from the last sentence as they obviously have never made a stupid (drunken) mistake in their lives.

I wonder what the guy who threw the punch did when he was 19 (the time of his last offence). I do hope it wasn't for something stupid.

When I was younger (late 30's ) in a drunken state I swung a punch at heavyweight boxer/bouncer Rab Affleck :boxer: , luckily I missed - he picked me up by lapels & put me outside as he smiled ! I got barred for a week but lived - shampoo happens, even to sensible people ! :nono:

Did he actually attempt a kick? I mean, how do you eff up a kick at a standing target?
Yes he did. It was almost like he shat himself when Mbappe didn't move and so just "did something"!
Check the video, it's almost as if he ran out of puff then fell down. Total bawbag.

There's the footage shot from the crowd for anyone who wasn't at the game. Looks even more comical on second viewing. What a tit.
Personally I would have taken the legs from him but Sinclair could easily have tripped him up there to stop him getting anywhere near Mbappe.

Mbappe moved out the way when he saw it coming. Being a good footballer he has quick feet.

As suspected he says he can't remember much of the day because he was drunk. Lucky him. Feel a bit more charitable towards him after hearing about him greeting in court. Obviously the embarrassment is going to weigh heavy on him.

All that said just because he made an arse of booting him doesn't mean he didn't intend to. As a club, we're lucky he didn't succeed. I expect whatever punishment we got for Dida to be doubled or trebled. Hopefully that's the end of it.

A lot of folk using Celtic as a vehicle for their stupidity.

Yeah, why didn't Sinclair do something rather than stand there? Alright, Mbappe thankfully wasn't hurt as it turned out but could've been.

Anyway, yeah, the fella made a complete tit of himself - especially slipping over at the end.

There is drunk and being drunk or MWI.

Rest assured even through my own wild young years I never wanted to go and attack anyone at a football game. Ive been to matches as Im sure we all have with nutters we know from our towns/schemes and villages and they would never think of doing that at CP & they were as crazy as you can get.

Appreciate you trying to be pragmatic in what you are saying but the carrot is obvisouly a wee ned who just looks for trouble and quite what came over him trying to get onto the pitch. :ffs:

Sometimes you just need to say/call something by what they/he is. A wee bam.

I think UEFA and the club will take this very seriously and I think they will be right to do so. Players have to feel that they are safe while playing the game. If physical intimidation of opposing players ever became the norm the game would just die. I remember when big fences and moats were in place to protect players - and it took Hillsborough to get rid of that nonsense.

Within every fan is an understanding that you don't run onto the pitch and intimidate the players. 60,000 fans every week at CP understand that. The entire opposition corner at CP understands that. So why the wee scrote didn't understand that and aimed his half arsed kick at a player is beyond me.

And yes .... I think the same about Ibrox and wait with bated breath for the authorities and Sevco to take some action over the incident when it was our player who was subject to the incursion.

He seen his younger self. Have you ever wondered what you'd say to a younger version of yourself? Maybe he looked and thought, I'd have punched myself in the face to stop me being an idiot.

Whats even the debate here ?

The guy is clearly a tosser/pumpkin/dobber and his stupidity has rightly earned him his punishment.

Celtic will now get the punished for failing to prevent him getting on the pitch, which is annoying on an number of levels but not entirely unreasonable.

Thats all there is to it.

Certainly seems like it. Every club in the world has arseholes among it's support, but WTF is it with our arseholes, that they're hell bent on being so feckin visible? :cuckoo:

Was thinking the same thing. First three rows clear, row of stewards/ police, then running half the length of the park before anyone got close to him.

Surely they are partly liable for any fine, given it is their job the protect the players in this exact scenario.

Not saying I would be stopping anyone for the pishy hourly rate if I was a steward - but we hire these firms (G4S) to provide that service (amongst others).

Even the Daily Record have called it a 'Slap of Honour' on the front page, they (correctly imo) reckon most fans are sympathetic to the older guy.
