We're rightly criticising the young(ish) bam who ran on the park, but a 61 year old guy punching him? carrot should know better.
Understandable reaction to be fair.

He was fined £400 for it
If he was a daft laddie too, aye.

Idiot, but did he actually make contact with the player? Surely 'attempted assault', can you assault someone without making contact?

Out of interest did the guy who caressed Dida's cheek get lifted and charged with anything?

The PSG charge for broken seats is pathetic and sums up UEFA  .
Elaborate ?
I may be wrong but there certainly didn't seem to be any malice or destructive intent at play from their fans.

They were a vibrant mob and as a result I'm guessing some seats have been casualties to this. It's standard and part of parcel to any vibrant style of support. Perhaps its time club's and authorities recognised this, appreciated the style and moved with the times.
My French colleague is a PSG (and Celtic) fan, he was in their end last night.

He says the damage was caused by people standing on seats and then them buckling as they maybe were jumping up and down singing and what not, not malicious.

He says their fans were highly complimentary of our support and time was spent at the end swapping scarves. Not my type of thing, but fair enough if it is anyone elses.

I sit in the Main Stand though, so couldn't see any of it, will take his word for it.

should just foot the bill for the seats and leave it at that.
Correct, pay the damage and move on.

Assault incorporates attempted assault which isn't recognised separately in Scotland unlike attempted murder.

Basically, you don't get let off lightly for aiming a kick at someone and missing them

Yeah, don't see anything in the seats thing. It's not the same sort of deliberate damage you get when the huns have their big day out. We all know how keen UEFA are on having fans sitting upright in their seats and applauding politely though, don't want to upset the sponsors now do we.

As for the numbnut who ran on the pitch, I have no sympathy. Being pished is no excuse, a grown man should still know better than to do that. I have no problem with guy who punched him, shame on the police for lifting him in the first place and even more so on the Crown for trying to get him banned from going to games.

The boy was a tit for running on the park but the cries for public naming and shaming are unpalatable imo. He's being dealt with by the courts. No need for anyone to take a swing at him either, leave the stewards and police to do their job.

Just heard this on Radio Scotland.

Apparently UEFA said last night's incident will be looked independently. That means our past record of UEFA violations, fines etc will not be considered in tandem with this event.

That might be a bit of good news. I would have feared our past record and that would lead to a real hammering, possible closure. Fingers crossed.

Arsenal were fined £6000 or Euros for a fan running at a Bayern player when they last met.
