Right Bhoys and Ghirls,I know its a long shot. I'm going to miss the cup final as I will be at a wedding in Greece  . Does anyone know if and where I would be able to watch the game in a resort called Kampi (or somewhere near there) in Zante. I've e-mailed the hotel and they didn't think they would be able to pick it up :o
Never been to the resort you’re talking about, but I’ve been to Argassi a few times and watched games I’ve missed in the Red Lion pub

What did people think about the food bank collection last night? Personally thought it was poor (certainly relative to previous collections). Of course the attendance wouldn't have helped but I have a worrying feeling that we are going too often to the same well for assistance.

It just seems that everyone is in at the Celtic support for a slice these days - and don't get me started on non-charitable events  . I just hope that over-saturation does not affect folk. For example the Celtic foundation badge day is this Sunday. Fortunately the bumper crowd should help it be a success.

But I worry that the "match for cancer" in September will be poorly attended.

Yeah, I thought the collection point at the LL end was pretty poor.

Personally, I think the food collection should be left for the GB. it's their thing and always well announced and supported.

I don't think there's any need for the Foundation to have a collection of their own, when the charities supported are almost identical.

I did bring a bag along, but feel the foundation are stepping on the GB's toes - so to speak.

I only read about the collection on the day of the game - very poor publicity from Celtic - I get emails from them all the time, but don't remember anything about this - I just donated money and reckon may others would have done the same, so maybe not as bad as imagined

Yeah, I wasn’t aware until yesterday either, and like you, usually get emails every 5mins plugging something.

Yeah I found it pretty baffling that it was a done for an evening game, was never going to be as successful as others with most people working etc. The weather didn’t help.

It's difficult to be too critical of something obviously well intended and regardless of the amount raised it will still make a difference but you do have a point.

We do the collection annually for this very reason. It's planned months in advance, same time every year (in time to stock up foodbanks for the festive period), the fixture is specifically picked taking into account everything from kick off time, expected attendance, time of month for pay days etc. We've discussed more regular collections but I think we have it working well and every year we've surpassed our previous collections and as far as I'm aware any collections done anywhere in the UK.

They've tweeted that the donations equalled enough food to help 970 families. That's the only thing that matters.

Can’t remember off hand but is it usually done on a midweek game?

The ‘over saturation’ I’m sure will have an effect, certainly has to me. Also the more successful the team is the more games we play and the cup games can be a drain as I have two sons to pay for as well as myself. I’ve not got a ticket for Broony testimonial because of the price, sons have but I’d rather give my part of the ticket money to the foundation this weekend.
If Broony tickets were cheaper I’d be going and the foundation would be receiving less.
