is that meant to be funny :brickwall:
I don't really understand the harm in it - why are you falling over yourself to be offended on behalf of other people (who probably wouldn't bother their arse about the comment) ?
To be fair he didn't say he was offended, maybe just thought it was a shampoo joke.

We can't dictate how people respond to the atmosphere at CP. I certainly don't feel patronised when leading players and coaches say how good the atmosphere is and how it's a reminder of how football should be. That's something to take pride in.

It must have an effect when we're trying to get players to sign for the club too.

The Green Brigade create a great atmosphere and European nights are magic BUT the 'performing poodle for the entertainment of others' role we have adapted is a bit annoying to be honest. There is nothing more patronising than taking a whalloping on the pitch then patted on the head and told we played the banjo well.
"There is nothing more patronising than taking a whalloping on the pitch then patted on the head and told we played the banjo well"

You're right but that's not what happened on Tuesday night.

We played well and their was a great atmosphere. The opposition fans and some of their journalists thought it was great, and commented on that or "patted us on the head" for putting on a great show, especially when we went back a goal down after drawing level.

The 'performing poodle for the entertainment of others' role you talk about is down to us as well (other Celtic supporters that are not members of the GB), there is often talk about
what will the GB do this weekend? What will the banner be like? And if anything happens with the SFA / SPFL / Rangers people wonder what banner the GB will display.
Their Palestine flags display, subsequent fine for the club and then the m0ney raised by the GB and other fans was one of the best things that they have done, (along with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) and got plenty of positive coverage.

I enjoy them as much as others do and hope that they continue with their "noise" (without getting the club fined).

It's literally what Celtic do with the rows behind the Celtic dugout.
So I'm recommending that Celtic do what they already do, except that the blind folk get in for free under my scheme, and I'm the bad guy?
I'm campaigning for enhanced opportunities for a neglected and undervalued part of our society - people have had MBEs for less :shakefist:

Pretty much the first things they usually mention are the fans and stadium.

The atmosphere at Celtic Park on a Champion's League night is unique. As others have said, other venues can be intimidating in a sinister way; Celtic Park has a joyous atmosphere, regardless of the result.

The crowds at the English games this week made me cringe, utterly soulless - plenty have remarked on Citeh in recent years as a perfect example.

At last year's home game against them, I'd parked at the bottom of Springfield Road (not realising the bus park had been relocated south of there ) Three City fans approached me, to ask first, if they'd be fine parking there, and more importantly, if they'd be ok walking up and back. I reassured them that this was Celtic, and as long as they weren't being arsey, they'd be grand. I said we hoped to give them a game, but realistically, we knew what we were up against, but no matter the result, they'd hear us singing about our team.

I came across them up at the park again before kick-off, and they were delighted they were able to mix in a friendly crowd - they confessed they had been apprenhensive. I met them again, after the game, and they were full of praise, both for the excitement of the game itself, and the joy of the crowd.

Yes, they had been a bit condescending before the game, lumping us in with the scum who trashed their city in 2008, and expecting us to just roll over to their superior riches, but I know they left Celtic Park with a completely different attitude towards us, Celtic, and Glasgow, the city, and a recognition that, despite their wealth, they don't have that connection to the club that we have.

I long for the return of Celtic Park being feared for the formidable force of the playing side, and under Brendan that's possible, until then, I'll settle for the atmosphere we, the fans, create.

"And God bless every one of them."

Don't think it's cheering the CL anthem, more trying to drown it out.
Boo it then ;)

Clapping like a seal on speed and shouting "woohoo" during it makes me want to punch you*

Sack that. Man City fans boo it and we roar throughout it, its a no brainer which one creates a better atmosphere. Although the way some people are talking in this thread maybe we should create a rotten atmosphere so we don't feel patronised after the game when people compliment it :cuckoo:

I think we should find a way to ban the GB again, so that we aren't seen as "a performing poodle for others". Let's get back to a morgue like stadium - that'll really pack the fans in and drive the team forward.

Can I suggest that those that think we are being patronised, give / sell their tickets to other fans who want to be part of / enjoy the atmosphere?

why? rememberance day is the 11th, what possible justification can they have for holding the minutes silence on the 4th (a rhetorical question BTW)?

I've always felt that the playing of the CL anthem is official recognition of the level of football we're competing in, and the roar during it as a GIUY to the huns who won't be hearing that particular music for some time, if ever.

Don’t have a scooby, it’s obviously a decision taken by SJ alone, next week should be the only weekend it takes place!

Just hope we don’t give anyone a much sought stick to beat us with

The huns are one of the furthest things from my mind when that CL music starts. The music gets a massive roar because CL participation is such a massive thing for us.

On the "atmosphere" debate....the atmosphere has nearly always been great at our CL home games....it's just the way it is, the problem is that now we're getting praised for our atmosphere more often after a defeat that we were in the past and it just comes across as a bit patronising....

International week next weekend.

This will be the SPFL / SFA's way off showing our support for a registered charity and a way for the media to beat us up.

Hopefully we will "honour" the minutes silence and then carry on and win the game.

Didn't realise I was in such a minority, but I love the Champions' League theme, both for what it represents in terms of our participation at the highest level, and the music itself.

The organisation that’s making it harder for teams like us to qualify in order to allow the big 5 to dominate the tournament with clubs from each country that finished 3rd in their league. Fecking joke.

Won’t even mention the stupid fines it hands out.

Hope I’m wrong, but no chance the silence will be impeccably observed.
