Trying to figure out how many appearances SB has made for Celtic.
I make it about 430 but i'am sure it's more.
When you look at the list of players who have broken the 400 mark he has certainly made his mark.
Will he be remember'd as a great in the mould as Tommy Burns or Roy Aitken or as a good player like Peter Grant or Tommy Boyd???

Roy Aitken a great player.

Hmmm.

Romance aside, it isn't even close. TB is the only player from those mentioned whose ability would be comparable to Scott Brown. I know it's subjective, but struggling to think what the criteria would be overall that doesn't have SB miles ahead.

In terms of ability, I'd put Scott Brown ahead of Aitken.

But Roy shared a lot of Brown's leadership qualities, which often came to the fore.

My opinion is the same as yours SB will go down as a legend imo.
The longer he has been with us the better his standing gets.
Just seen a list and was surprised at some of the names on it.

He went from being remembered as a good player (pre-BR) to being remembered as a great player (current BR era).

I thought he was done during the Ronnie years, but I think he has been playing his best football since BR arrived. With everyone fit, he is the one current player who is irreplaceable. He makes us tick and has the ability to transform a team performance from good to great.

Our results with him in the team have always been much better than our results when he didn't play but it's only really the past 5 seasons or so when I've started to see him as a really good footballer. I thought he was good but he's really grown into the role of captain and I think he's improved alot as a footballer, even just since Rodgers has been in charge he's improved again. 14/15 although Johansen got POTY for me Broonie was the best player in Scotland, he was immense. The season after he looked done, I thought he'd never get back to his best but last season he was outstanding again. He'll rightly be remembered as one of our greatest players and captains and will retire with more trophies than any other Celtic player.

Both great for Celtic :rocker:

Broony would be great anywhere, including dan sath.

What's the record for a player captaining a Championship winning team?

Billy is on 9, I think Butcher then Gough captained deidco during their 9 IAR, I take it 9s the magic number, don't think anyone's had this level of dominance before.

Was Gough there for the full nine years? Brown has seven winners medals. Assuming we win it this year he needs to win the 2018/2019 season to draw level with McNeill.

Aye, but;
Big Billy did nine-in-a-row, surely?
No comparison.

Wrong to compare Scott Brown with Billy as Billy is iconic.
We won't be seeing any statues of Scott on the Celtic way!!

Scott's a great player for Celtic and definitely ahead of Peter Grant.

What if we win the EL and he captains us?

Pretty sure it was Tony Mowbray that made him captain.

Gough has 10 league badges, 1 with United, I reckon he got 7 as captain, Broonie should have 7 as captain, 8 overall by the end of this season.
Hopefully he has another 3-4 seasons in him.

Indeed.

Made him captain once McManus went to 'Boro.
