Hope this doesn’t get dragged out. Would love him and Rogic signed up before the start of the window.

CELTIC chief executive Peter Lawwell is locked in talks with PSG to strike a deal for loan striker Odsonne Edouard.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is anxious to keep the 20-year-old long term after an impressive debut campaign which has seen him produce 11 goals in 29 games.

Edouard suffered a hamstring strain in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Hearts and has almost certainly played his last game of the loan agreement — meaning he’ll miss the Scottish Cup Final against Motherwell.

Rodgers said: “He’s struggling to play again this season.

“We hoped it was maybe cramp, but it’s looking worse than that, so it’s highly unlikely he’ll feature again.

“His contract is pretty clear. Peter has met PSG and talks are ongoing, so I’m hoping we can come to an agreement.

“I know the boy is happy and PSG have enjoyed watching him develop here.

“It would be great if we could get this one done.

“He’s still here for his treatment. He enjoys being here and you never know, he might make a miraculous recovery for the final.”

Nice wee line in mind games from Brendan which will have Robinson thinking for the next ten days or so.

He is a master at measuring everything he says whilst making it look easy - The constant swiping away as a minor irritant of the Level 5 pish from the so called journalists is a thing of beauty. :worthy:

The 2 loan signings of Roberts & Edouard have been brilliant for the Club.
Hopefully we've learned from the Roberts one, in that a fee & contract was already agreed in advance, we spent FAR too long mucking about with Roberts in the summer (same with Armstrong).
Hopefully this one can get done quickly & have him signed up before the window even opens.

Thing is, why are we meeting with PSG, if we already had an option? I take it that it's not entirely set in stone, but there must be some sort of legality to these types of pre-agreed loan arrangements - otherwise no-one would bother with them...

“His contract is pretty clear. Peter has met PSG and talks are ongoing, so I’m hoping we can come to an agreement.

Must be fairly straight forward I would imagine.

I imagine we're trying to either reduce the agreed amount (probably via sell on clauses) or we want to spread out the upfront cost. £8 million is a hefty chunk of change for us.

Brendan has said that the fee wasn't as big as reported, that he's doesn't know where the reported fee came from & that the contract is pretty clear.

Just get it done, we spend too long farting about with this type of thing - always.

His contract is clear, his fee is agreed, we want him, he wants to stay.

Easy!

The fee is supposedly less than that according to Brendan.

I'd really hope we just get this one sorted early doors and use the window to strengthen elsewhere. The price was already agreed and he's been a success. Not exactly the time to try and shave a few quid off when we've got plenty other areas to worry about this window as well.

Might be reading it wrong but does that imply it's more likely to be an extension to the loan rather than a full transfer?
I think the fact he is here for treatment is telling. Do players not normally go back to their parent club for treatment?

If our option to buy is at a fixed price reported by the media, at 7m or so it is a no-brainer.

BUY.

Some highly promising quotes about him staying with us and his impression of the loan move this far in the French media today. Taken these from Robin Bairner (@RBairner on Twitter) who translated them.

Quote:

Odsonne Edouard tells L'Equipe: "For me, it's the best option to stay at #CelticFC. I'm comfortable at the club, with the team & coach. My objective is to stay here."

"Celtic is a top club, they have a top coach, who has helped me step up a level. Next year, I want to play for France U21."

Edouard on his first Celtic Park experience: "It was unforgettable. It'll stay with me for life. I was on the bench and looked up - it was incredible. After the game, the PSG players were stunned by the atmosphere."

"Rodgers is great at working with young players. Between the Edouard of 10 months ago and that of today, there's a huge difference."

:)

Edit: Beaten to it

Promising nonetheless. Third person issues notwithstanding.
