I don't see any reason why wouldn't get him signed up.
Wages.

£7m is within our budget, but the wages for such players are likely not. Same situation with Roberts (who was quoted at £10m). Why would they sign for major sums but accept under £40k a week wages? Doesnt make sense.

I'd like him to stay tho.
I don't think he's established enough to command a 40k/week salary. I don't think he's even played for france u21s unlike our other two guys. He'd get a decent package and a platform to progress like Dembele.
Dembele circumstances not comparable.

Ffs the boy is likely on less than 10k a week at PSG.

He's done heehaw for anyone to pay him 40k a week let alone us. If we want him, he's ours.
Hope thats true.

Havent known anycarrot ever to move for 8m euros to a £10k a week deal tho.

His workrate is excellent and the Huns couldn't cope with his power and movement. I would sign him.

That's why it would most likely be 20k plus incentives

Brendan/Lawwell will be having the conversations to see if its doable. I'm guessing we'll find out over the next couple of months

Surely more likely that the fee would be dependent on certain factors?

Would we get a better striker for £7million in the current football climate?

I doubt it.

amazing goal today but

Can't see him being our record signing at £7 Million for a kid with very limited game time so far

he has done well since the turn of the year when given the chance, but unless he plays 90mins from here until the end of the season - highly unlikely given Moussa's return to form and the soon to be recovery from Griffiths - unless Brendan had a total change of heart of playing one up top.

Not sure how long his psg contract has to go but could see us trying to get him on loan for a further 12 months as there is no way he is getting near the psg first team at this stage.
Are you serious? Like really?? Another years loan, not a chance of PSG accepting that,he proved today the occasion doesnt faze him,we either do the deal (which i think we will) or some other vulture will buy him. This fella (as i have said since his debut) has some wonderful attributes.

I think you were peddling this about someone else in the not too distant past.

Worry about something else.
I'm not worried about it in the slightest.

And I said we wouldn't be signing Patrick Roberts for £10m during the summer when there was a collective hardon in here. And we didnt.
Aye you went on about it all summer long and it wasn't wages or transfer fee that was the problem.

Now you're saying Eduourd's wage demands will stop us signing him for reasons known only to yourself.

Sell Demeble and buy him?
They're both good when on their game, but I prefer Edouard, because he seems more energetic, doesn't fall down as much at crucial moments as does Dembele, and just seems more enthusiastic about playing for Celtic. I just feel he would be happy to stick with us for a few years while Dembele appears to be just biding his time till a decent offer comes in.

He’s not as established as Dembele was two years ago. If we were able to afford a package that Dembele was happy to accept, there’s no reason why the same can’t happen with Edouard. Has great potential but there’s unlikely to be a long queue of clubs willing to offer him in excess of £40,000 per week.
The obvious difference is we paid a modest development fee for Dembele: reputedly paying him a major signing on fee (and a big cut to his agent) that effectively topped up the c.£30k wages to a level that he'd be making in England. That's not an option in this case - or it might be, but makes any deal uneconomical.

I think you might be overestimating the earning power of some of these guys. As others have pointed out, he’s on a modest salary at PSG (by current standards) and, whilst he’s had a good season with us, he’s not even a regular starter yet so is unlikely to have a string of clubs battering down his door with multi-million pound contract offers. He’ll know the long-term benefits of joining us and, of all the potential reasons that might prevent a permanent deal, his salary demands shouldn’t be one of them.
