If we’re spending 7 million, it should be on someone who’ll automatically improve our starting XI.

Would happily buy him, think he has potential, but anything above 5 million seems steep for a guy that’s hardly torn it up in his first season here.
£7m barely gets you a striker to improve the starting 11 these days unless you find a moussa type deal. In today’s market I’d say big Eddie is well worth the £7m

Not for me and certainly not for £7/8 million suggested.

Very raw and obv. very young. Anytime Ive seen him he has had flashes but overall play not that great.

It's the going rate for someone with his potential. We'll still pick up bargains like Moussa or VVD or Wanyama but if we want guys like Edouard and Ntcham on a regular basis we'll need to spend big. I wouldn't be surprised if we went over 6 million twice in the summer window.

Guess it is how the deal is set up

Doubt that we pay £7m upfront, but £3m upfront, and the rest up to the 7 in add ons after matches played, qualifying for the CL, perhaps after a France call up etc etc it could happen

He should do well in the SPL, and on the basis of that likely we'd end up selling him for more.

I know it's been a while since we set it, but I can't see us breaking our transfer record for Odsonne Edouard.

He has a chance to become a top player but we'd need to change our system to get the best out of him (not saying thats necessarily a bad idea!) as he's not ready to play up front on his own yet. He's been most effective the odd time we've played him just off Dembele but I'd also like to see him play with Griffiths as this could be a really great partnership given time.

I don't really care about the fee, we are cash rich at the moment and expect to cash in on a few players in the summer. If the manager wants him then the fee shouldn't really matter too much.

We have money, we shouldn't be worrying about the fee. If Brendan likes him which I think he does then I can see us making a deal and I don't think it will be as high as what we think it will be. The figures branded about normally include his wages etc.

19 year old, moving abroad for the first time and doesn't speak the language. He has done ok, he is raw but the talent is there. Unfortunately you don't get a Sutton for that type of money these days so we need to buy potential!

The rumoured £7million fee is substantial, but as always is only part of the story.

If a player commands a £7million fee then he's also going to be looking for a hefty wage....I reckon when it's time for him to make a move he'll be looking for a weekly wage that takes him well beyond our current top earners and that will be the real roadblock to making him a permanent signing.

Also it may be that we end up with Dembele still in our squad next season - his form has been poor in the "shop window" portion of the season... even if he kicks on from here and returns better than a goal per game for the remainder of the season it's hardly going to raise his profile with clubs in the top half of the EPL. He may very well be faced with the choice of signing for EPL relegation fodder as his next step or sticking with us at least till January and hope he impress in the summer this time round. Either way, if Dembele doesn't look like moving on in the summer I don't see us splashing out big money on Edouard or any other forward.

I like him & looks worth the fee going by the market conditions.
Did anything ever come out about the Ukrainian striker we supposedly offered terms to? Also a young big guy.

7m is big money for us, but not in the grand scheme of things.

7m these days is not a large fee. I also suspect this would be conditional on certain targets being met.

We may ask to extend it for another season.

I get the feeling that he has "a bit of everything" to his game but isn't anywhere near the full package yet. I'd be amazed if we spent 7 million on him,i don't think anyone else will either.

Our transfer record was set no far off 20 years ago and we're in a very healthy financial position.

Aye, Edouard isn't the finished article but I'd much rather spend £7m on a guy who already looks good in this squad rather than squander it on a mixture of Boerigter's, Scepovic's and Ciftci's

The price surely has to be negotiable if all parties are interested.

BR likes this boy and for good reason. He's lightning quick, tall with a great first touch. He's also only 19.
Bags and bags of potential.

Is it set in stone that he's valued at £7m?

He's someone I'd like us to buy, but not at that price. But surely PSG will look at his performances this season in the SPFL and see that he's not a £7m player - and I can't imagine many clubs in England or elsewhere will have him top of their list and willing to spill £7m on him.

Off all our strikers, he's the least desirable at the moment.

I don't mean that as a slight on the guy, I just think anyone shopping for strikers will easily find better value for £7m than Edouard.

In a years time, with development, I think he'll be a £7m player. But not right now.

Agree.

You're buying potential. He has all the attributes and massive progress could be made in 3/4 years. He'd still then only be early 20's.

All in all, if PSG won't budge on the price another years loan would be great. Really see something in this guy.

Would gladly take him on loan for another year or at a smaller fee. He's shown promise but nowhere near enough to merit £7 million, especially given we'll need to invest in real quality in other positions first.
