I think Edouard actually gets a surprising amount of shots on target and gets them off in tight spaces as well. I think he's been unlucky with how many have hit the back of the net.

The guy broke records at youth levels for France and PSG for scoring goals. I dont think that'll be an issue for him in the long run.

Getting on a bit

It was just a brief, very brief appearance on Thursday, but he looks strong and composed in possession, like the type pf striker who can link and create chances for others playing off him.

Yeah his link up play is very good, looks like a striker who's probably at his best playing off a proper number 9 rather than being up front on his own.

I didn't think he was up to much at first but gradually I see a real player. My only concern is perhaps decision-making/sharpness on goal - in general bar the Well game - but that can come.
Can it?

He does look useful so far but I’m not sure he has shown quite enough for us to spend that amount on.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see another 12 month loan.
I believe the issue on the horizon is that loans (outgoing) are going to be limited by UEFA, so PSG may well be wanting rid. The option price may well be pie in da sky.
If it’s £8m depending on various outcomes then why not if we can afford it.

I get the feeling that if we go in to next season with Griffiths and Odsonne as our main strikers, then we will be primarily relying on Griffs goals again.

Odsonne really hasn’t shown enough to be more than 3rd choice striker again next year.

I think if we dont sign Eddie we will live to regret it. I know 8m is a lot of money to us , but teams from other leagues will be looking at him where 8m is buttons.

Has he got a twin or something? He's looked nowhere near £6-8m worth of player when I've seen him.

It's a brave new world post Neymar, we'd be paying for potential but I'd say it's worth signing him. If we want guys like him and Roberts we'll need to break our transfer record. Huge potential and a bit of stability in a transfer window where we could see alot of players bought and sold.

Roberts had shown consistently that he could torment opponents. He would have been worth £8M. Edouard has shown nothing like that - some good games and some honking ones, like today. Right now I would not shell out a club record fee for him.

He wasn’t that bad. Got no service and tried to drop deep to get on the ball.

Never stopped running or trying.

Far from the worst

Might get shot down in flames for this but ...

Just want to put it on record that Odsonne Edouard will become an all-round better
striker than either Leigh or Moussa within two years. And will eventually leave Celtic for
ridiculous money.

Weird thing about yesterday.

Since the 2nd half against Thistle, he's been used mainly as not the main striker but in and around Mousse or Griff and he's looked the part in that role.

Cue him starting upfront on his own yesterday and looked as bad as he has done most of the time he's played the lone striker role.

Even in possession I thought he was poor, but on the one hand he's still a boy. On the other, he's being talked of being worth £6m or so and he's not doing a lot to show he has that much potential. Dembele looks streets ahead of him to me.

I hope I'm proved wrong, obviously I'm not sat here wishing for him to play badly just so that my gripes come to have some validity

Neither he nor Dembele was good yesterday. Both have forgotten what shooting is.

I did say it would DEPEND ON VARIOUS OUTCOMES.

I can’t see us just handing over 8 million for him, and I wouldn’t BE VERY HAPPY AT ALL, if we did.
