Let's put it this way what we have shelled out on him and some new light bulbs for CP we have already outspent the entire budget of every Scottish club combined!

EDIT: To add which is a bit sad.
Yes I'm crying into cornflakes as we speak.

Should have double edited it to say:

I would love for our clubs in Scotland to be more matched on a financial scale but that's not our fault, we have ran a steady ship since the McCann took over and the other clubs have always stood still and are still standing still and do nothing to get their own fans into the stadiums, we didn't do that and we have reaped the benefit of it.

The other clubs however (and as I come from Edinburgh I used to see it all the time and still see it when I get back over) are full of fans bemoaning the money we have, whilst watching EPL games int he the pub and spending around £60/£70 on beer over the weekend watching games in the TV that don't involve their clubs which are playing 5km's along the road from where they are drinking as they are being priced out!!!!

So I'm not losing sleep either about the finance of other clubs but it would be better if the glory hunters from the other clubs actually went to support their teams every week other than when they reach a final.

I have no sympathy but would welcome a stronger league!
I agree with a lot of that.

Born in Edinburgh myself and one half of the family are mad Hibees so know what yer getting at.

Looking at all info available ( Brendan quoted some time back that the fee was much less than 8M quoted) it looks like we got him for around the 6M mark.

In today's market that is an absolute steal.

Loans with options to buy from clubs that are bloated buying up players who will never get a chance to play ( Man City, PSG etc) is the way ahead to get gems like Odsonne.

A lot of clubs didn't stand still. A lot of clubs overspent trying to keep apace (to some extent) with the cheats at Ibrox. As a consequence they went backwards and are still feeling it twenty years down the line. It wasn't just Rangers that Murray ruined.

Ironically it took the death of the dope fiend to kick off something of a revival we are seeing now.

Re the 'strong league' chat.

Can we just have it after we've done around the 20IAR ?

I'm rather enjoying this at the moment.

Or just other SPL clubs. Sir Minty has a slice of the blame to take for the state of the Scottish international team. Other teams ignored and diverted money from their youth setups to buy overpriced foreign journeymen just to stay 20-30 points behind a cheating hun team.

I think that's a good point you make. The quality of Scottish football in general began to deteriorate when teams even in the lower divisions started to play as you say, foreign journeymen.

This is such a win. The boy has everything you need to be a top striker and we know that because he's done it for us already. It's not a signing with any guesswork attached; he has won us games before he's even signed his contract. If Moussa stays we've got the best striking trio in the UK outside of the top 8 in the EPL and if he goes we've still got 2 guys who are a mile ahead of everyone in Scotland and shedload of money.

When Eddy moves on we will absolutely make a significant fee off of him and we'll have had at least 2 seasons of the boy. This transfer isn't throwing money around for the sake of it, it's a calculated and smart move financially as well as being one from a playing perspective.

Keep an eye on any loan signing this season as I think this could be a big part of our current transfer policy (last summer would've been this but with Paddy had City been more happy to sell).

I'm very impressed with how the Club, staff, players & fans have made this young guy want to sign up & be a part of Celtic.
We have been trying for a while I think, to be attractive to younger players - even with Ronnie the strategy was the same, now we have Brendan it's the same ideals & thinking, but delivered much more effectively.

Ajer, KT, Moussa, Eddie & NtCham are all around 20-22. We've tried to get in guys like Paddy, Musonda & Eboue with limited success, but the idea is the same - Paddy also really took the Club to heart, so it's a very good environment - wherever he goes he'll talk to others about Celtic being a good place for young players.

Really happy, on lots of levels & I hope/expect us to keep going this way, now that we're seeing success with the model. We'll have good links & reputation amongst Clubs, players, staff, agents & Man City, Chelsea & PSG are probably good people to be associated with n getting access to highly rated youngsters to develop & hopefully buy.

He didn't. He denied the figure the media quoted but said he wasn't saying how much it was.

He didn't say if the fee was higher or lower than the figure the media quoted.

There was this "Celtic are keen to tie him up on a permanent deal. It is understood that the transfer would have be £5million in an upfront payment, as well as an additional £5million in additional fees and clauses".

Read more at: https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/celtic/celtic-given-deadline-and-asking-price-for-odsonne-edouard-reports-1-4742862

But this is not attributed to BR.

There's no way we paid £9m. Does anyone have an idea what we did actually pay?
£9m probably includes wages, signing on fee plus the fee paid to PSG

Now that Eddie is signed and apparently has a huge increase in wages

I wonder if a couple of the other "big name" players will get likewise
