http://celticbynumberscom.ipage.com/2300-2/ Celtic haven’t conceded a goal against their city rivals but improvement in the opposition is clear. Can the seasons performance numbers help identify the outcome? |

http://celticbynumberscom.ipage.com/celtic-hoist-the-rangers-by-their-own-petard/ Defensive frailty all over the place in the Derby. The sending off made the game simpler for Celtic. My derby review of the key action. |

http://celticbynumberscom.ipage.com/comparing-expected-goals-and-assists-to-2016-17/ Looking at player expected goals and assists compared to the unbeaten SPFL season of last. Whose form is holding out amongst all the injuries? |

Good work again, CBN. Fair to say in a nutshell you hypothesise that the effectiveness of our set pieces, open play chance creation and scoring has been negatively impacted by injuries disrupting the key contributors in this areas? |

http://celticbynumberscom.ipage.com/some-goals-are-bigger-than-others/ Not all goals are equal. Expected Points (xPTS) allows us to value each goal in terms of its potential impact on the outcome of the game. Who scores/assists the most potentially impactful goals? |

http://celticbynumberscom.ipage.com/stats-not-entertainment/ Celtic have scored 23 LESS goals than after 32 matches last SPFL season. Yet they are creating chances of equal quality. xG may get a mention! http://celticbynumberscom.ipage.com/self-immolation-at-hampden/ There were cheers and then there were tears. Like so much at Ibrox it was largely self-inflicted and Celtic gleefully took advantage. The Scottish Cup Semi Final in numbers, a few pictures and too many words 😊 |

Would be interested to see analysis of time taken with throw-in and our likely hood to retain POSSESION. time should be measured from moment taker picks up ball. My son did it for one match and it appears the quicker you take it the more you are likely to retain possession. If its that simple why do we sometimes take so long. |

One of the characteristics of the last decade or so of Barcelona teams has been how quickly they put the ball back in play. Whether it be restarting the game with a short free kick, a quick throw in or a short corner. At their best, they would constantly leave besieged opposition without much of a breather physically or mentally to recover and regain shape. It takes incredible discipline to keep that going, but it's coached. Coaches like Tony Pulis, Sean Dyche etc cut down the likelihood of being overmatched by more talented teams by deliberately setting out teams to limit the amount of time the ball is in play. Plenty emphasis on putting balls into channels, wing play, making set pieces and corners a big part of their approach. The ball in play counter is always worth a watch in games coaches like this are involved in. |

http://celticbynumberscom.ipage.com/head-bhoy/ Recently capped by Norway when still a teenager, Ajer is enjoying a meteoric season. His defensive numbers are up with the best centre backs we’ve seen in recent years. But of course, there is still room for improvements. |
