feel terrible for the guy

according to reports he was delighted to be joining us

but at the end of the day we don't need a daniel prodan situation

anyway it didn't happen on the last day of the transfer window so we have 5 days to go to plan B as it is obvious Brendan has identified that is a position we need to strengthen in

we do have a plan B right :twitch:

I think the fact we were willing to completely end interest straight away shows we have someone else in mind.

Never quite sure what to make of medicals. The three centre backs we have at the moment are all injury prone yet clearly passed theirs. Guys like Kieron Dyer, Michael Owen and Jonathon Woodgate used to sail through medicals and then spend whole seasons on the treatment table. Then you have the likes of John Hartson and this guy who, according to his club, has missed no football for either club or country yet we've withdrawn from the deal on medical grounds.
I don't get this either.
I've a fused bone in my foot.
No pain at all, does not impact my movement and all it does is 'click'.

Not saying its the same of course but if he's playing regularly with the issue, what are Celtic expecting to happen?

Ffs a small op is usually good enough to correct things like this. :(

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Could it be an insurance thing, maybe? Preexisting conditions and all that jazz?

Would a club sign a player to a four year contract if they can't take insurance on him?
Could well be an insurance thing. This guy, seemingly, was going to cost less than a million pounds so loose change to us in the grand scheme of things. Yet we'd presumably have no qualms about extending Simunovic's contract even though he's missed a huge amount of games since joining and failed a medical at Torino last year.
Insurance sounds a good reason

I was not excited for some reason. Don't think we've missed much here.

Are you still able to play 40-50 top level games a season?

We should make him some sort of pay as you play offer if he's a prospect and really keen to come here.

I feel for the boy. Would've welcomed him. His youtube montage is honking though. He should work on this when he is recovering

Again, have Celtic actually said anything on this? Only stuff is coming from the South Africans.

In fairness they were a bit previous in the statement they made about us signing him. Maybe they knew he was broken?

Remember we had a similar situation with a Polish centre back under Lenny. Deal was all in place and announced and then failed his medical. Fojut I think? Turned up years later at Dundee Utd and was fairly pish.

Didn't fail hibs medical. Signed on a pre-contract then got a serious injury which filled him out for 9 months and we cancelled the deal.

His dodgy form in the period after he signed and before his injury might have been a factor in the decision as well

Because there would be no risk to us, we would only pay him if he was fit to play and featuring.

I agree. At the medical we should have just told him to stamp on it and take it from there.
