In any other country in the world the msm would have followed up such an explosive article and try claim an exclusive. Outrageous.

VAR would be great for Glasgow derbies, it would make it almost certain we couldn't get beat, for that reason I cant see it ever being introduced to Scottish football, they will say there's no money for it etc, the sfa would rather disband than bring it in.

Has there been any talk of it in Scotland?

I think in March the SFA held talks with the SPFL about possible implementation. Not heard anything since then. "Under consideration" was the phrase used I think.

Cheers, probably a meeting to research which school VAR went to.

It's unlikely, due to the cost of implementing it for the whole division. There's additional cost involved because most of the games (i.e. the ones not on Sky or BT) only have 2 or 3 fixed cameras, so stuff like offsides would be impossible to judge without paying for a TV-style production at every Premiership game. I suppose in theory you could have VAR for just the televised games, but I don't think that would fly politically.

The only Scottish games where you are likely to see it, assuming that it doesn't fall out of favour after the World Cup, would be in cup semis and/or finals.

VAR is in it's early stages and I think has to be given time to sort out the anomolies we witnessed last night. I agree with you that the costs of implementation here makes it unlikely in the near future. Once again we will be left behind but in this case probably through no fault of the ruling bodies.

I'm not sure much would change if it is still the same carrots making the decisions unless it is something blatant like the Caley Thistle hand ball. Trying to imagine things like Clint Hill on Griff in the last minute, can't see Madden changing his decision even if he has watched a replay behind the dugout.

The MIB would still blow for offside everyone we played a through ball.

There would be the same people reviewing the decisions as those who currently make those decisions. It'd just make it more obvious and annoying.
