I don't know what free kick that was but he had the wall at 8 yards one time. I know his uncle who is a Monsignor - mentioned him and he rolled his eyes.

Today was the first time I've ever seen a referee move a wall forward!!

Come on lads, Celtic could score from this, get yerselves forward a bit.
I couldn't believe that!

I watched him count out 9 yards and draw the line. To their credit, Motherwell actually went back 10 yards until Clancy told them to move forward. Unreal
He didn't even bother with a line after that.

x2

I counted out the paces...9 as you said. Then he tells the wall to step forward  It is entirely up to the defenders where they stand as long as it as least 10 yards back. I'd love someone at the SFA try and explain that one away.

Yeah that was mental. :suspect:

Re the Kipre challenge on Armstrong I thought it was much like Jozo's on Miller but I'd need to see it again.
My first thought was that the tackle was shocking, but then I also wondered if it was Jozoesque. Agree, I would need to see it again. That said, the way they were leaving the boot in it was a reasonable assumption.

I’d love for the question to be asked in the first place, and for an explanation of the disallowed goal decision. Surely there must be a process or method for a club to query such calls, a process which ensures a reply is provided? We are talking about querying highly unusual actions of officials, not just a run of the mill contentious decision that can be explained away with the usual ‘he called it as he saw it’ line.

Did we ever get even a reply from SFA about the failure of ref & touchline official’s failure to act on the Meeking/ICT Hampden handball? The club’s statement called for an explanation of the decision, after being ‘inundated by complaints from concerned shareholders, investors and corporate stake holders, supporters and season ticket holders’, which i thought at the time was a clever way of introducing the suggestion that non-partizan 3rd parties might suspect the Scottish game is bent, and so should prompt a response? Did it? I really don’t recall any...

On Celtic TV it looked like Clancy had forgotten/lost his line spray

He definitely had it at one point...he needed it to draw the lines at 8 yards and tell the Motherwell players to step forward :ph43r:

I'm in the front stand - tackle happened just in front of us - looked a really good tackle to me

Referees pace out 9 metres, they stopped pacing out 10 yards years ago.

The ref only needs to draw the line at 10 yards. If the defenders want to stand further back, eg to give better protection for a side of a he goal, then that’s s upto them. It’s not a rule to say the wall must be at 10 yards.

That would mean they were pacing out 9.75 yards. Which would be 9 inches of a difference. Big wow.

Unless you happen to enormous most people don't have a natural stride length that is anything like a metre. So 9 paces isn't creating the necessary distance for the wall.

Last week the referees were corrupt, rewarding cheating, a national disgrace... even when video evidence suggested that the referees called both Celtic penalties correctly.

This week the referees have such a tough job and need help (video evidence.) Windass' blatant dive hardly mentioned, Jack hard done to for a disgusting tackle on May and one of the most bizarre refereeing incidents (Rogic's goal) edited by the BBC to give a completely false impression of what actually happened - one step down from blatant photoshopping. (They actually lied stating that the linesman called the offside. He didn't.)

It appears to me that the second Sevco goal should have been ruled offside. The Sevconian on their right wing who crossed the ball for the goal looked well offside when the pass was played to him. The linesman was running right alongside and couldn't have had a better view of it.

Somebody posted a screengrab from a different angle showing he was onside.

The screengrab was from behind and not on line and proved nothing. It was very tight though

FORMER Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher insists Ryan Jack deserved to see red at Pittodrie on Sunday.
The midfielder was sent off for a challenge on Stevie May early in the second half of Rangers’ 2-1 win over Aberdeen.
Interim Light Blues boss Graeme Murty expressed his sympathy for Jack after the match but Gallagher believes whistler Willie Collum made the right call as the 25-year-old was dismissed for the fourth time this term.
"I think this is a great spot by the referee," he told Sky Sports. "Not only is it a great spot, but he reacted very, very quickly, which stopped players going to him.

“This is quite ironic in that without doubt the player clearly players the ball, but he does seriously endanger the safety of an opponent.
“No doubt whatsoever that is a red card offence. But it does show, that because you play the ball, it doesn’t exonerate you from further punishment.”

And now? Rangers to appeal Ryan Jacks red card.

Given that they have two legitimate red cards wrongly rescinded on appeal, it's no surprise they are appealing this one.

It was a worse challenge than the Pogba one the day before, but even Man U have accepted his ban

Soon the Virtual Assistant Referee system will be standard.

Next generation pitches will have lights that will render stuff like distance for walls at free kicks etc by VAR.

All officiating elements of the game and pitch will be done by technological means.

There is no truth in the rumour that the SFA ‘s VAR will be called Billy.

Possibly.
