Happy Birthday wee man.

An absolute pleasure to watch and especially in European games his ability to control the play and moreso, possession was invaluable.

I think it was the first half vs Man Utd at home and for about 5-10 mins, he kept darting into space, taking passes, laying it off and receiving the ball again. They couldn't get near it due to him.
As a few have pointed out, not many players have had the technical ability he possed and his free kicks were second only to the lad Juninho at Lyon.

Not often we have a player who is mentioned in the same breath as Zico, Pirlo, Beckham etc as one of the finest at his art.
Nakamura was better. As others have said, a shining light in Strachan's team.
I dunno, that lad has some record

He had a hand in so many pivotal moments during Strachan's tenure. I remember the game against Man U at CP it was so clear he was the only player in the hoops that had the same composure on the ball as the opposition, even McGeady and Maloney looked nervous in comparison.

Good wee player.

Some hyperbole in the thread of course which is natural.
Which bits?
Has there been a better left side midfielder at the club?

Put Naka up against any full back in the world in his pomp and he'd have skinned them repeatedly

He's a club legend in my book.

If he had been utilised properly I think he'd possibly be listed as one of the top ten greatest Celtic players.

They'll do for starters.

2nd point was me and I stand by it.

Even when playing poorly he could make any defender look silly. Doesn't mean he was a better player than said defenders.

The guy was at home in Europe.

+ Lubo and Henrik couldn't have scored chip against DU
He was a better free kick taker than Juninho Pernambucano

Saying that 'good wee player' is a snide description of a great player that brought us all plenty of joy.

The scorer of my favourite all-time Celtic goal (free kick at home to Man U). One of the best passers of the ball to ever play in Scotland and arguably one of the greatest free kick specialists ever! Love him.

Calling him a "good wee player", the same phrase you use to describe such talents as Emerson Hyndman and Barrie McKay, is far more nonsensical.

Anyone got highlights of his debut against Dundee United? He was utterly awesome that day. Mind he thought he'd scored a free kick and ran away to celebrate and I think Paul Gallacher just clawed it out of the top bin.

Too good to play in Scotland, frankly. An artist of his calibre should have been playing in Spain for 10 years. Kind of like Lubo in that respect, he should have been much more famous and successful than he was.

Naka was a number 10 played out wide yet still managed to overcome his obvious physical limitations to be the main man in our team. He should be viewed as a legend and I doubt if anybody who played for Celtic did have a left foot better than his.

My alternative highlight would be the winner at Love Street. According to some he committed a war crime by virtue of the fact he was fouled.

At home in Europe?

Not for us he wasn't. Even Strachan benched him in some Euro games same as he did v huns.

He was a very good player who could hit a great freekick. He was a shining light in Strachan's team of functional cack. He wouldn't get in a great Celtic team though.

One of my all time favourite players. He looks so happy when he scored for us.

That Hun goal is beautiful, like a drunk guy on a Saturday night booting the eff out of a can of beer on the street only for it to find its way into a bin.

His POTY season, he was fantastic for us. He never quite maintained that level of consistency again although he was still very good.

Watching some of his goals again, his ability with a free kick was incredible. Genuinely amongst the absolute best in the world.
