Feel like we've got another Balde or Camara on our hands.
His goals probably kept Fulham in the Championship last season after they turned down a £6m bid from Tottenham in the January window. He's taking time to settle and hasn't looked great so far but he's been unlucky not to have scored goals for us.

Got to believe BR will bring in players who will improve us and I'm hopeful Dembele will prove his worth once he gets going. It's not every signing that makes an instant impact. He's young and needs is a bit of time.
"needs a bit of time" has been typed too often on this forum when assessing strikers. If we started a thread on Rasmussen or Bangura some would still give them the benefit of the doubt.

We benefited from a cross-border loophole that lowered his price tag significantly.

He needs to start scoring. Its as simple as that. We're already playing key games that will define our season and he needs to turn up. I don't really see what you guys see in him unfortunately. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

You only compared him to Balde or Camara because he's black.

He has had 3 competitive games. He's just turned 20. He needs time.

Posts that write players off are equally common on here though.

So you'd give up on him after 4 weeks?

I've not been impressed either. At some stage, patience will run out if that doesn't change. A month in isn't the time to call it no matter what the outcome

Comparing him to Bangura

He's not shown much as of yet but clearly needs a bit of time to settle in. We'll see the best of him in a few months.

Mind when people used to get a season?

eff me. I've seen loads of players at Celtic and other teams generally be quite crap, for even a year or two. Then, bam. Right system, right people, ideal time, better personal life etc. and it all just clicks.

Give the boy time. He's got quality but isn't showing it yet. Given he's settling into a new team, country, city and football club alongside trying to get to know about 50 new people it must be tough. Trying to develop a good connection with your teammates whilst trying to get to know them, and everyone trying to learn a new managers system, is a lot of variables at play together.

I have a good feeling about Dembele. He gets himself into goalscoring positions and he adds a bit of physical strength up front that we previously lacked. Obviously he hasn't found the net yet, which is a bit frustrating, but if he keeps getting into the positions he's been getting into then the goals will come. It's always difficult for a striker when they move to a new club and they don't get off the mark quickly. The longer the drought goes on the harder things get. I'm sure Brendan Rodgers will be encouraging him in training and it's important that the fans do the same on match days. What a striker searching for a goal does not need is fans getting on his back. I've seen some people online comparing him to Amido Balde and Mo Bangura already which is pretty ridiculous in my view.

He had a poor game on Wednesday but he'll get there. His goalscoring record in the English Championship suggests he knows where the back of the net is. A bit of patience is all that's required.

I hope it's desperation for that first goal but I've been surprised by the poor quality of his first touch and general awareness of team mates.
Willing him to give him time and on the plus side his movement is clearly good. However I would have expected to see more natural ability given his pedigree.

He always takes too many touches and ends up running into defenders. Pass the ball :arrr:

I think he looks useful, time will tell if he turns usefulness into anything more. Either way he's an improvement to the squad in an area we needed to improve. I reckon another couple of months, a goal and 2 or 3 more signings will help him settle and kick on. In the meantime I think we have a decent player there.

Exactly. He is a young lad settling in, finding his way and desperate for his first goal. Let's be patient. He is no Banger or Amido.

First half of the second half he looked the business. Quality touches and lay offs for other people. Second half returned to trying to run the ball into the net himself. Hope he's just choking to score.
