Watching the game back and although overall he didn't make much of an impact there were some flashes from Dembele.

He made 3 excellent runs. One of those he waited too long to release Griffiths, the second should have led to a pen (imo) and the other he ran from box to box and instead of passing he tried to beat another man and was bundled off the ball.

As I said earlier he also defended well.

He needs a bit of time.

3 good runs but most of the time he did nothing but lose possession. He´s rewarded a 5 both in Daily Record and Talkceltic for his performance against Astana, and in my opinion that´s just what he deserved, and in my opinion, that also mirrors what he´s been doing in the matches he´s played so far. Along with Armstrong, I thought he was the weakest Celtic player on the day. I´m all for giving a young player a chance, and I understand why Rodgers wants to play his signing, but I see him struggling with his close technics a bit and neither does he look very effective as a target man. Most seem to strongly disagree, but right now I´d rather play Ciftci along with Griffiths if there´s going to be 2 strikers.

Roberts, Griffiths and Dembele all look like they struggle with when to release the ball to a team mate.

You mean they're all greedy bastards??
I'm happy with the forwards all being greedy bastards. I thought that was the basic intention? Give them the ball, they shoot and score.

What it also does is drags defenders away from who they are marking to support the guy Roberts or Dembele is going to go past.

Switch the score for Tierney and Roberts and I pretty much agree with these ratings.

His goals probably kept Fulham in the Championship last season after they turned down a £6m bid from Tottenham in the January window. He's taking time to settle and hasn't looked great so far but he's been unlucky not to have scored goals for us.

Got to believe BR will bring in players who will improve us and I'm hopeful Dembele will prove his worth once he gets going. It's not every signing that makes an instant impact. He's young and needs is a bit of time.

There's a replay of the penalty incident from a different angle on Celtic TV highlights, (don't know how to embed :comp: ) and you can clearly see the defender pull Dembele to the ground by the arm. Definitely a penalty, but can understand how the referee didn't have a clear view of it, and therefore couldn't give it.

I'll play anywhere, as long as I get a game!

I play amateur football and whilst a hugely lower level I know when certain players get the ball what is likely to happen, some hold it longer, some take extra touches, if I have the ball some will go long and some will come short etc. So when certain players have the ball or are looking for it - I will do something different. Eg) Guy I play up front with took the ball 10 yards deeper to me, 99 times out of 100 he holds the ball up and moves it wide. So when he got the ball, I turned and made my way further forward anticipating the play going this way... however, he flicked it round his man first time, expecting me to be there. But I wasnt.

Now, the point is that Dembele is new and only played a handful of games most (if not all) with much less than 90mins. It's going to take time to learn how to link up with his team mates in various situations he finds himself in when he has the ball. And vice versa, when his team mates have the ball.. how he should react will take time.

What I am pleased with is that he's got a good touch, no afraid to shoot, quick enough and strong enough. In time I am sure he will begin to link up well with the rest of the team and we will have a cracker of a player on our hands.

He's showed a few glimpses of what he can do. A very impressive record with a poor Championship side in a difficult league is impressive, especially with him being so young. Once he gets going, I'm sure we will have a cracking player on our hands.
