Injury and form has disrupted consistency of striker selection. But what has that done to striker consistency of performance? I compare Dembele, Edouard, Griffiths and Sinclair.

He was out and about in the sunshine in Buchanan Street yesterday in a truly scary outfit. Plenty of Celts got a selfie with him.

I think what you have to bear in mind with this lad is that he had the clarity of vision and strength of character to leave PSG at 16 and go to Fulham - not for money, or fame, or glory, but because he thought it was best for his development. He obviously has big ambitions - whether it's to win the Ballon d'Or, or to win the World Cup, or to lift the Champions League, I have no idea. But he ain't your average footballer.

He has a lot going for him at the moment. He plays for a great man-manager and has a real chance of playing in the Champions League next season, and the season after that. He's in the France u21 squad and he's getting real praise from big names like Zidane and Deschamps.

I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed for at least another season - it seems mutually beneficial. He hasn't quite hit the same heights this season that he managed in his first year; to that extent, he will know he has something to prove if he wants to get a move to one of the big CL sides. It's unlikely that he'll get a move to another side in the Champions League this season, and if he does it'll certainly not be as a first team regular.

I have to be honest, I don't see anything in the lad that suggests he's hankering after a move this summer. He had a mid-season blip, for sure, but there were rumours that we offered a price around a few clubs and he potentially took the huff at that - quite rightly, if it is what happened.

I think all the evidence suggests that he has his eyes on a much bigger, longer-term prize and he'll do whatever maximises his chances of achieving that, including staying with us next season and maybe even into the season after that.

After all, no player has gone from Celtic to a bigger club than Henrik Larsson, and he stayed here for seven years. I don't think Dembele will stay here for that long, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's still pulling on the hoops in 2020.
Agree with this. I actually wouldnt be surprised if he left on a Bosman. :ph43r:
 Aye like the board would allow that. Absolutely no chance
Thing is, all the noises about him leaving in Jan came from us rather him.

People forget that you can't force a player to leave.

Don't see him doing a Bobo Balde tho

Same as with Larsson, if the player is good enough and on a long-term deal, then the club shouod be happy enough for him to stay. Larsson made the club more money than any transfer fee, and it removes the risk of replacing a known quantity.

There are very few players that applies to, but Dembele is one. I think the club will be happy whatever he chooses.

balotelli apparently signing for marseille. that seemed one of the most likely destinations for dembele

would be good to get another (injury-free) year from him if he would sign an extension

I heard "Son, do you know why I'm stopping you for?"
Cause I'm young and I'm black and my hat's real low
Or do I look like a mind reader, sir? I don't know"
