No Moussa. Ben Yedder and Ousmane Dembélé get the unexpected calls up
Hard to argue with, really. The talent in the forward positions for France is frightening. Dembele would slot nicely into the middle of a front three there though.

Goals against United and Chelsea must count more than goals against huns.
29 goals in 69 caps, that's what matters for Deschamps. It's already a change for him to call up a player in form never tested before with France like Wissam. I wouldn't be surprised if he had considered calling Thierry Henry up from retirement instead.

Ah well. His time will come. Wonder if Ben Yedder's exploits mid-week swayed it.

Surely but he had a good season before that, scoring ten goals in the CL before Old Trafford. He had been due a call-up for a long time. I like him. He's a bit of a misfit in today's football. Not good enough for football club academies, he started playing futsal then in Paris amateur clubs, working hard to get a chance he finally had and took. This season, despite good performances, he was benched by the new manager who preferred to play upfront a midfielder, who appears to have the same agent. No talking in medias, Ben Yedder did his talking on Old Trafford pitch.

Unfortunately for us, not making this squad will probably make Moussa think he has to leave Celtic in order to get a full call-up. Irrespective of the season he and others have had to date.

or maybe that he has to play well over a full season and score regularly at CL level. But you could be right, a 21 year old not making his National team squad in a World Cup year will know it's because of the club he's at.

Ousmane Dembele has been injured most of the year, is younger, and gets called up because of one goal against Chelsea. Guess Moussa’s goal against PSG way back in November has already been forgotten.

Nope. Ousmane Dembélé has already played for France. The goal against Chelsea didn't get him that call up. Ousmane doesn't play in the same position too. Moussa is behind more experienced players who deserve their calls up. Deschamps included him in his extended pre-selection. Due to injuries and manager choices, he's higher in the pecking order and would be at the same stage, had left for an English club in January

Considering he’s already got a number of caps and has cost about £200million in total transfer fees he probably isn’t the best player to compare Moussa to.

Yep. it was clearly always going to be a two-year stay unless an insane offer came in. I would say Moussa hasn't really done enough with us this season to deserve a France call-up, but I'd be very surprised if it doesn't happen at some point in the future.

Thanks for the info. Still disappointed, but understandable.

I think he may well have realised this for a while now.

I think it's probably the right decision by France, he's not at a level where he's performing as consistently as his rivals, or on the same stage. I actually think there's trouble ahead with Dembele, because our expectations as to his value were so stoked during his wonder season that I just don't think anything we will be offered for him come the summer, is likely to feel like anything less than an insult. I hope to be proved wrong, or better yet, for him to stay with us for many years to come and make the question moot.
