Big man is a good player. Even in the flashes we've seen its obvious what he will bring to the team. He will be that focal point to our play and it allows others to get close to him (too close so far in my opinion), but the rest of the team will benefit from him being there. Looks quick, powerful , strong and centre halfs wont enjoy coming up against him. Ive been impressed by his movement too and once him and griffiths get time to work with each other, it will be a good partnership. The goals will inevitably come too, no question.

In the bigger more difficult games, i reckon we will see how much he offers the team. Looking forward to watching him vs astana (away especially)
I agree with all of that, the goals part aside.

I don't see him scoring any more than 15 - 20 goals a season - hope i'm wrong, obviously.

I think he'll definitely be Sutton(Samaras) like, in that what he'll bring to the team overall will be worth more than goals he scores.

Yes, sorry i should have qualified that. I agree, he wont score record numbers of goals. Like you say, between 15-20 but will be a real asset to the team and the way we play.

Has potential, but not quite the finished article. He looked a bit slow off the mark at times (perhaps that's down to lack of sharpness/fitness) but also had some good runs that weren't picked out. I think he'll develop and do well over the piece. But we need to play to suit his strengths.

Still think we need a more direct target man for our striker pool though. Even just as a backup/plan B. Don't think Dembele is that type of player.

Yeah, ponderous is the word that comes to my mind. Not a quick footballing brain. Seems to need that extra second to know what to do. Think he will be good for us. Other than Griff hes better than any other striker in the recent past.

Doesn't follow a shot in from his partner striker.
Should really do some striker training if we're going with 2 up front.
Griffiths needs training on one on ones too.
Could be decent though, given time & effort.

My main worry about the guy is that he runs into trouble often and unnecessarily. I'd play him off the bench him for the rest of the Champions League qualifiers. Give him time to adjust to his surroundings.

He's trying too hard

Everyone else is micro-analysing him

When those two elements even out we'll probably realise we have a player.

please play Griffiths in the middle of the front 3

Worth remembering the guy is 20 years old. He's shown flashes of his skill and will be learning while he's with us. Hope the fans can have patience and not be on his back.

He developed a very good understanding with Ross McCormack at Fulham. He'll do the same with Griffiths for us.

Fans are looking at Dembele through critical eyes despite his age because he was sold to them as a major signing who would've cost Spurs £6million. He is a victim of the clubs spin. Either he is a major signing and will be judged accordingly by the fans or he is a 20 year old prospect. When there is a paucity of new players the ones we have signed will be under greater scrutiny.

He's shown glimpses but I think he's pretty raw. He does offer something we don't have though and that's a physical presence up front and in the air.

Worth remembering he's not had a proper preseason either and is still getting up to speed.

His overall play yesterday caused Leicester more problems than Griffiths did. He wasn`t bullied by that big Leicester defence and their equally hard working and compact midfield.

He dropped a bit deeper to get more involved second half and had one good turn and shot saved by the keeper 1st half when we struggled to create anything clear cut. He helped us clear our lines as well defensively, in fact as good as I`ve seen us for a couple of seasons at opposition corners and set pieces There`s a lot of ability there for a 20 year old and I think he`s got lots more to come. The ball got stuck under his feet a couple of times , as has been said he`s trying too hard at times.

He could do with someone who can cross a ball swinging them in for him, we haven`t seen that for him yet.

This.

The need for instant success these days is boring the breests off me.
He has the tools and will build up a relationship with Griffiths and others in time.

Give the boy a break.

And I do realise these CL games are important, but, we really shouldn't have to rely on a 20yr old to carry that burden on his shoulders in his first 10 games for the club....

Definitely a player there. Is coming up to match fitness nicely IMO, obviously the longer he goes without a goal the more anxious he (and the support) will be. It will come though and when it does I believe he will score a bundle.
