Looks like we've thrown him under a bus. There's also a few rumours going about the dressing room.

Went in early last night and watched Moussa warming up. Obviously he's a sub but he was always on the edge of the group. Particularly at half time when the subs were doing sprints he was on his own behind the group. I'd go as far as to say it looked like he's been ostracised.

Very disappointed in how Celtic are handling this.
Disappointed yes, but not really overly surprised.

Last season seems such a long time ago for Dembele.

I think this is about more than Dembele mate. The dynamics in the team is not the same as last year and I think Dembele is going to be the fall guy.

:ponder:

How have we hung him out to dry?

Chris Sutton (whom I like as he sticks up for the club more often than not) was talking utter rubbish last night " I hear he does not want to leave etc..." How the feck does he know what was said and done behind closed door s and is happening. Really was nonsense from him.

Chris Davies was asked a question and replied " He has inidicated he wants to leave...." So what its the truth now the scene is set for his agent to get him a club he fanices and for us to get as big a fee as possible.

Dembele all season has been far from the player of last season. The club and the management are 100% doing the right thing by the club. He is going to go in the next week or so...Davies asked a question and he answered it.

Time to get rid & move on.

You played brilliantly for 12 months Moussa thank & goodbye.

This is the Celtic I know and love. It's seemingly impossible for us to build from a position of strength.

Looks like he is offski. Set his agent a deadline to find a new club and if nothing happens he stays until the summer.
They already have one. That’s why there is a transfer window
 I meant a certain date before the end of the window so we have time to get a replacement in

I’m not knocking anyone’s sources or closeness to people at the club but we have hardly hung him out to dry as written & Suttons comments about the management now “questioning his character” is utter nonsense.

Pretty much dead cert he will go now after all of this but TEG was a mile oot last night.

Why would he though? He is fairly professional in everything he does - even if our management team aren't.

I guess more importantly you could say until he comes out and says he wants to leave then we should just assume he wants to be here?

This is where the disconnect comes in for me; why are you assuming that the management team are lying?

Dembele has been accused of something and if it's untrue, then he'd have every right to come out and deny it. Simple post on social media, for example.

"I want to stay here".

Done.

If you know something I don't then fair enough, but to me it's bizarre that you're supporting a player who hasn't denied the accusation thrown at him, and instead are calling the management team liars.

People have been questioning Dembele's attitude from the word go, from the way he didn't celebrate when others scored, looked huffy and whatnot. That doesn't mean they were right then and it doesn't mean they're right now.

Definitely seems to be something going on though. I'd say that players are too comfortable/complacent. There's no challenge coming in from quality signings and some of them are coasting.

Regarding last night, I think the second half was fine. It didn't really work for Edouard but not through a lack of effort. He's a young guy and maybe we need to work out his game as much as he has to get used to playing in the team. I think there's definitely something there, but he's not anywhere near clinical or composed enough, consistently anyway, in front of goal.

I thought we were too predictable last night, always going down the left. We seem to do this in games. Always play either down the left or down the right, almost as if it's a direction to target one side. Sometimes one of the wingers will barely see the ball and last night nothing seemed to be heading in Forrest's direction. Second half he was on the ball a lot more and we were far more dangerous for it.

I think we also took a few games to get back into our stride last year after the break, so I'm not buying into the argument that there's disharmony in the dressing room just yet. The team have lost a certain spark, but we've also lost two of our main creative talents, so we're more predictable - and the fans' patience is a lot shorter. As soon as the ball goes back the way (and it's annoying at times) the howls go up. Nothing has changed between last season and this season regarding that, as far as I can see, other than the fans' attitude.

Back to Dembele, it may well be that he wants to wait until the summer. It may also be the case that the manager wants to keep him until the summer. The reality is that all parties know that if a bid comes in it will almost certainly be accepted, even on the last day of the window. In which case, the manager is letting the fans know that should this come to pass, he's not the one responsible for leaving us short up front and he wants another striker in.

Leaving him out of the squad altogether would be ostracising the player and sends a signal for the vultures to come in with low bids, but the reality might be that the manager is still cautious about his hamstrings and figures that he'll see the next week out with him on the bench and, if he's still a Celtic player at the end of it, give him the rest of the season to make his mark again.

I'm not calling them liars - I think the way they've handled the situation has been disgraceful. Rodgers talks about protecting his players - and even said this when talking about Dembele - but the reality of the situation is that him and Davies have done more harm than protection.

Dembele's opinion seems to be that he is happy to stay at Celtic - not necessarily that he wants to stay. I think in an ideal world for him he'd be playing at Chelsea or something and pushing to get in the France squad for the world cup. Going public to discuss his situation when he probably doesnt feel the need to would be stupid.
