The PSG goal was a swing and a deflection from a rehearsed move FFS.
it was a goal in the cl. bizarre to try and downplay it

a "rehearsed move" ffs
Compare it highlights from Neymar, Suarez, Messi, etc in the CL and you'll see how big a deal it is.

It only went in because it was deflected. Hardly an 'add 20m to the price tag' moment.

If Dembele leaves in this window, it will be to a Southampton, a Brighton, a West Brom, etc, a club that is struggling for goals as they fight to stay in the Premiership. Our selling record implies strongly that this is the sort of level our players leave to go as a first move. Ki, Ledley, Wanyama, Forster, Van Dijk, Hooper, etc, all go for fees often around 3 times what we bought them for. Thus based on these factors, it would be most likely that we could be able to get a good 20M plus from a struggling Premiership club if he goes now. He's not going to sign for an Arsenal or Spurs before spending a year or two playing in the Premiership first.

That's basically what i posted earlier but of the players you mention all but VVD and Victor have stayed or gone down from that level.

those two players were the only ones who were really tipped to go on to better things.

nobody really expected the rest to go on to better things with maybe the exception of hooper.
and that was more wishful thinking than expectation.

The point is that you can't simply bring up goals scored in a competition to argue a players quality if some of the goals in question are down to luck rather than quality like his goal v PSG or his first v City. The same thing used to happen with Samaras too.
the point was extremely stupid. if he'd just left it at a snidey "deflection" dig fair enough to but to make a big deal about it being a well worked setpiece routine is petty in the extreme

neither of those goals or samaras were down to luck anyway

I hope he goes this window as his head doesn't seem to be in the right place and while we'll miss him and he will be a loss, he's been a passenger in a lot of the games he's played this season and that's had nothing to do with injuries, it's been about a poor attitude IMHO

his style and attitude has been the exact same as last season. he couldnt be any more laid back if he tried.

do you honestly think brendan would stand for a poor attitude given all of his comments and actions since joining?

Bryan Swanson tweeting that Crystal Palace have said “no bid been made yet”.

Bid will be due soon enough I’d reckon.

He'd be mental to go there anyway.

its almost like nobody at all has compared him to those players or said that goal added 20m to his fee
So we agree he's not at the level of a top CL striker?

Top level CL strikers go for around £70M these days. Don’t think anyone has ever claimed he’s a TOP LEVEL CL striker

With Demebele you are not just paying for current ability but for potential

Regular scorer with France under 21s. CL goalscorer and still lots to improve. 30million in this market is exactly his value

The fact it was a set piece routiner means very little was down to Demble's ability. He didn't even hit it that well and it would never have went in if it wasn't deflected.
