Utter nonsense on this thread. There was no creativity from midfield today at all. How is that down to Dembele? Griffith'
s, who is going nowhere, did nothing when he came on. What is that down to?
Thankfully you are now here to tell everyone where they are going wrong in their criticism of Dembele.

Who, in my opinion, has been pretty poor all season. Is that all down to the midfield as well?
Has anyone our strikers been consistently good this season? Has any of our wide players, apart fae Forrest, been consistently good? Has any of our midfielders, apart fae Brown, been consistently good? Have my of our defenders been consistently good?

This is going the same way as the Van Dijk thread when fans thought he was leaving. Fans started acting like rejected teenage girls.

I thought Dembele did ok first half. Griffiths took a few corners when he came on but otherwise nothing.

Before a ball was kicked this season, I tipped Dembele to win player of the year and comfortably finish top scorer in Scotland. On form, he’s our most influential striker since Larsson. But for whatever reason - injuries mainly I presume - he seems to be going out with a whimper. The only upside to that is that it’ll make it slightly easier to replace him as he’s currently far from the indispensable striker we thought he might be this year.

Nah. He's been poor all season. A shadow of last year's player.

Forrest and Brown have been our best and most consistent performers this season.

Dembele has by and large been poor. People are commenting on that in the Dembele thread. There's nothing more to it than that really.

Sinclair is getting it ridiculous in his thread

2nd season syndrome has been a big factor but with the strikers, constant niggling injuries and squad rotation has stopped any getting into form. If you play 1 striker you cant have 3 of our standard in your squad.

This thread isn’t about the rest of the team. Stop looking for excuses and look what’s staring you in face. Dembele isn’t playing Well it’s undeniable. A shadow of the player we had last year. Four goals ffs . 25mplus rated forward .

I'm quite confident that he'll come good again and he'll be here past January. We need to give one of the strikers a run at it though, the rotation isn't working. He can't trap a bag of cement at the moment so either let him play out of it or drop him.

I think Moussa has the potential to be a great player. At best I thought we would get two seasons out of him. So this year I thought he would kick on. It is not therefore OTT to say he hasn't. Other than flashes - such as Pittodrie - he hasn't been close to the standards he set last season. It was obvious from pretty early on today that he was off the pace. As was Sinclair. Yes the midfield fell apart in the second 45 minutes but that doesn't excuse the front three of being pale shadows of the players they can be.

The above criticism is neither petulant nor without basis. I hope he can turn it around if he stays but I'm beginning to think he might be for the off this January.

Been injured for large part of the season and hasn't been given a run of games to get up to standard.

Yet he still has a better goals to minute ratio than any other player in the league.

And why hasn't he had a ran of games ? Its because his form is miles away from the standard that saw him score 5 times against today's opposition in games during the first half of last season.

No one is saying he is a carthouse, a bad buy or a disgrace to the jersey. What some of us are saying is that he has been poor for a large part of this season with one or two exceptions - Pittodrie being the best example when he has played something like his old self.

Today he was offering nothing and during the second half was being beaten by two very very ordinary centre backs. He can have no complaints about getting subbed.

It shows that despite him being "pretty poor all season" he is still the best striker in Scotland despite being injured/used as a sub/not given a run of games.

No - it's because he's been injured and largely kept for the big games. He had a bad injury at the start of the year and we obviously didnt want to rush him back. He then picked up an injury vs Anderlecht and came in as part of a rotation that saw us give Edouard more time to shine. Dembele - coincidently for someone who you are suggesting isnt getting a run due to his form - is the player selected to play vs Bayern, PSG, Anderlecht, Aberdeen and Rangers.

Maybe thats why his goal tally isn't bigger as well. He tends to play vs the better teams.

Stats can prove anything huh.

There was me watching Dembele this season and being disappointed he wasn't playing to the level I know he is capable of when I really should have been scouring the Opta database to form an opinion.
