Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
His start wasn't great, so I'm not sure about that.

We're a selling club now, and that is a downer. However I don't think it's unreasonable to talk about potential fees given that they're vitally important to the quality of the playing staff in the future. What's utter pish, is folk telling people which Celtic-related areas they are allowed to talk about and which they shouldn't; pinning labels on them and telling them to "get tae eff" is wide, and are the actions of a weapon.
It's tedious. Players go from being utter pish to 10million/20 million/lucky to get 3 million at this rate within the space of games.

When Tierney signed a new 6 year deal, some people's immediate reaction is to talk about how much it would now take to prise him away.

Inevitably, some players will leave. Some use us as a stepping stone. Nobody is under any illusions about that and, when that situation is upon us, then it's normal to talk about what we'll get because you would assume we'd be then looking to bring new players in.

What doesn't seem normal, to me anyway, is to be fixated on transfer values as soon as a player puts a run of three games together. Then they go from the knee jerk 'pish, punt, the new Amido' to 'he'll be off as soon as an EPL club flashes its hairy wad at him.'

Seems to be something of a fixation for a lot of people. I don't think anyone is saying transfers should never be mentioned though. I'm only interested in who's coming in though and like a lot of people couldn’t give a flying eff who someone signs for or what happens once they leave Celtic (Larsson being probably a notable exception, although I'd have preferred him to finish his career with us).

Some people are still apparently bothered that Paul McStay 'didn't fulfil his potential' by playing in England or Italy. If the likes of Kieran Tierney does the same, that would mean more to Celtic than any 10/20/30 million quid.
Well put Ned, couldnt agree more

Like it or not, transfer fees are an essential part of our income and to deny or ignore that is daft, IMO. Celtic don't get £100m in unearned income every year yet we're expected to compete with or even be better than clubs which do. We turned over £90m last year and made a profit of c.£7m!! The margins for us are tight and getting tighter. I don't see a problem with discussing possible transfer fees for our players, depressing though it might be. :(

But the way players are judged on here our squad has gone from being worth 500 million post aberdeen trashing to 5 million after hibs draw :brickwall:

The repetition I imagine gets tiresome for some. Every time Moussassin has a decent spell it seems that his fee and potential destinations are highlighted when some folk probably just want to enjoy the fact he's doing it for us. Personally I don't mind but after a bit the comments are skimmed over with a yawn. I do get it in December eighteen months down the line but it's been fairly relentless since he joined.

Perhaps the transfer window threads are a better place to discuss potential transfer fees for our players?

I've always found it annoying that the media can't wait to tell us our best players will be effing off to England at the first opportunity. Maybe that's why I get fed up when I see our fans basically doing the same thing on here. I know we need to be realistic as well, but it gets a bit tiresome.

He'll be worth £30million+ to a team like Newcastle come the middle to end of January. When the panic sets in.

Guaranteed for how long. They're three points above relegation and seem pretty likely to get sucked in to it.

And if they go down the value of their players go down and that means less sell on fee.

eff that.

Sell Dembele to the top 6 or tell them all to bolt. We need to break the mould with this one.

Calm down.

I mean in general when he goes it should be to a top 6 team or no one.

We can't keep him forever.

Personally think his Celtic player time is coming to an end. Without me having any real insight. Posted few weeks ago I heard him and club have agreed right offer comes in he will go fro someone who is involved at CP.

Watching him I think he has been off the pace a bit when playing recently ..not what he was 12 months ago.

It worried me a little when he didn't seem to be in any rush to celebrate when we took the lead in the League cup final. I put it down to his rather lackadaisical approach, but maybe his head IS elsewhere?

Seemed to be playing for himself when he came on. Took an extra touch in the box instead of looking to play someone in. Not sure if that was due to being over keen or not trusting anyone else...

that was every attacker in the second half except he was the only one that looked like something might happen.
the only one the was able to take the ball in from a shy and link up with others.

Agree with this

But could also level the same criticism at Griffiths

i thought some of his linkup play was decent when he came on for 20 minutes then the roof caved in even more and we barely got the ball to any of the forwards

interesting to see who gets the nod upfront on wednesday, think griffiths has no chance but will dembele or eduoard get the start?

with aberdeen and the huns coming youd want dembele to get a start and gain some sharpness or will eduoard be given a chance to earn a run in the team?

Out of the three, Dembele has to start

But is he himself up for it ?
