Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Giroud scores regularly with France and plays what he's told too. He has a better goal ratio than Benzema when he was capped. Benz frustrated the supporters because of his goal droughts and the way he played, always outside the box like if he thought he was the French CR7. Giroud was booed when he became a starter, but he replied on the pitch, doing much better than expected, scoring goals, giving assists, tiring defences.

The fascinating thing about Giroud is that from the very start to his career in children football he was considered as poor and hopeless. I've watched a documentary about him on French TV, in which you could hear his first coaches claiming they would never have believed he could become a pro, nevermind an Arsenal and France striker. Same with his managers and team mates in the lower leagues where je started his senior career. The only positive they agree on him is his hard work and determination. A real role model I guess, hence why he's appreciated here now.

Which strikers are expected to go to the WORLD with France and does Dembele have any chance?
I listed them in a previous post.

Some great options, particularly when you look at the Strikers Italy have had to use these past few years. The Italians used to have world class talent unable to get into the squad, bit different now.

Giroud is brutal. Admittedly I dont watch much Engerlund football but anytime Ive wtahced him for Arsenal I think his finisheing(generally speaking of course) is poor and he does not like the rough treatment from any defenders.

Never understood the great player stance from people about him.

Thanks for that Hoops. Obviously on the pulse with French game but Ive never fancied him anytime I see him over here. Just not my type of striker.

Not football related but I do remember the time he met a cracking burd in City Centre London 18 months ago...burd then posted a selfie on Instagram with him in the background getting changed then posted it on her instagram I think.

He is married. Caught red handed was Ollly bhoy!

 :rocker:

The comments in the Equipe article are funny. PSG will offer 222 million euros to get him. Huns will be raging!
In fairness, I'd probably let him go for that.

Must just be me that prefers the clinical finish of the second.

Here was me thinking he tucked that penalty away beautifully and made it look easy at the same time.

All great finishes tbf. .

I agree - 2nd was a class finish, though I kind of think he hit it with the wrong peg.
Key thing is that he got it in, somehow...

I think he's bound to be in the running for it. Not convinced it was a penalty, and the keeper came within a whisker of stopping it. But his two other goals each had the mark of genius. He has every quality that you would hope to find in a striker. He's got the lot.
Big clubs don't mind spending big on players like Moussa. We are much privileged to have him in our midst for a short time, and when he goes he'll go for a king's ransom.
He's good enough to go to any club in Europe.

Won’t get in the French 1st team yet, but has a good chance to make a claim for the squad going to Russia.

That would still be a great achievement for someone his age, and also considering the time he’s been out injured.
Griezmann and MBappe are guaranteed to be in the squad. Problem is Deschamps has faith in Giroud, and Moussa Dembélé is a bit far in the pecking order, behind Lacazette, the wife beater, Martial, Fekir, Ousmane Dembélé or Lemar. I think Moussa could get a call-up for the next friendlies, especially if Giroud is benched permanently. Then it's up to him to show his value.
Giroud is brutal.
Giroud is a very good player---scores some magnificent goals and works
really hard for the team.
To say he is "brutal"is ridiculous and perhaps is more of a comment on your
knowledge of football.

In the World Cup, France squad could include :
- Moussa Sissoko
- Ousmane Dembélé
- Moussa Dembélé

And in years to come, Tanguy NDombele should be capped. Nightmares for commentators.
