Henke was/is my hero. Not ashamed to say, as a professional man in my 40s that I loved him, and always will. Similarly, not ashamed to say that his leg-break in Lyon made me feel physically sick, and that I wept at his final game. He was my hero, a truly world class player, a genius of a man, who was good enough to bless us with his genius for seven years. My boys are soon to have pasted on their wall an enormous print of him, with tongue out, just after scoring THAT goal in the 6-2 game.

All this being said, I do not doubt that Dembeélé will be a better player than the KoK. It would pain me to say it if he played for anyone else, but he doesn't. He won't be ours for seven years, but he is ours now. The boy is absolutely immense. The best 20 year old I have ever seen in the flesh. His only realistic comparator in recent. times is (the original) Ronaldo.

I only hope we can hold on to him for as long as possible. Barring some freak injury, Moussa will be running riot for the next decade with whatever team he decides to grace.

This is way over the top.

The idea that Moussa's only real comparator in recent times is bloody Ronaldo is off-the-reservation stuff.

He's phenomenal, but come on.

Yup.

Please let's just enjoy how immense he's been and what more he can give us, without resorting to hyperbole and comparisons with Henrik Larsson.

Aye, give the man peace. I'd be happy for Moussa to pump my missus if he gave us another few years.

The 'real' Ronaldo was a genuine phenomenon. Pace like Bolt, power like Tyson and could finish like Muller. A truly terrifying opponent. (Perhaps I'm guilty of over elaborating but you get my drift)
I'm away to youtube him to see if my memory is playing tricks. :twitch:

edit. Naw, he was THAT good.

I suspect you mean Milan, rather than Inter. He went from Inter to Real Madrid.

Yeah, he got patchy at the end, but after those two knee injuries at Inter, he had no right to ever be world class again because his game as a youngster was based on raw pace, but he managed it.

Few pace merchants are ever able to change their game once the pace is gone, but he came back to dominate again. He was a complete striker.

He's so good that, after his leg injuries, he came back to merely be the best player in the world.

Fell out with my Gran on Sunday over him. Said the moneys madness, she could stand and tap them in from 6 yards out. Started on about how he's just a penalty box striker :ffs:

He was that good. Utterly sensational from a younger age than dembele is just now... some of his goals for barcelona when he was only 18/19 were incredible. He scored something like a goal a game as a 17/18 year old for PSV then replicated that consistency with Barca in his first season.

FWIW - I am on the bandwagon with regards to Dembele, 100%, guys got all the stuff in the locker to develop into world class - in time - but there's a lot of refinements needed still to fully harness his raw talents. He certainly seems to have a brilliant mentality and mindset to continue to improve toward that world class level though.

Some. Of the assists in this video are hilarious - basically kick the ball in Ronaldo's general direction where ever he may be & let him run through the entire defence, round the keeper & walk into an empty net, or lob the keeper from 20 yards etc..

Funny how few strikers round the keeper anymore, Ronaldo was the master.

Love those Ronaldo goals where he powers through a group of about 6 defenders and leaves them all lying about on the grass like skittles as he bursts the net. Majestic. :worthy:
