Except for the obvious reason. He could be the difference in qualifying for the champions league in the summer, £30m in the coffers, then sell him next January. Silly not to.
To be fair... he wasn't a regular in the team when we qualifed for the Champions League. Though I take your point - there is a balancing act for sure.
Was cool as eff taking a high pressure penalty. I don't know who else in the team at the time would've had the baws. Astana was it? I can't mind.

Wont be too surprised if he is away in January. He seemed to be soaking up the atmosphere, applauding the fans for a wee bit too long at Ibrox. Last off the pitch, looked a bit sullen as he trodded off.
i just read a post that was more or less word for word the same on the swamp. :suspect:

True, he was misfiring, and might be out of form come the summer. Anyway..what a lovely dilemma £30 or £60m would be...we can dream a little

If we were genuinely offered 30 mill for a player we bought for 400k around 6 months ago I'd be surprised if we didn't accept it. Injuries, loss of form, failure to reach potential all unknowns in the football world. Dembele has loads of talent and potential but many young players have been in this situation and it's all gone tits up. I think Dembele is the real deal but I'm not sure our board would risk losing out on that kind of profit even though the pot of gold could be much bigger further down the line.
I think you're right. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave soon, unfortunately.

If we sold him now it would, surely, be the largest profit in six months in football.

Given the source of this rumour, I very much doubt it ever took place.

Wouldn't sell now regardless.

His blogs always have a caveat that its the "views of the author and not the club". I'd more rely on any comments Celtic make than this blog.

Celtic have told West Ham they will have to pay £30m to land Dembele. The London club had talks with Celtic about Dembele this week and indicated they were willing to offer £20m for the former Fulham forward, who cost a mere £500,000 in compensation last summer. (Daily Mail)

doubt this as well , 40m should be the starting point

We've now had every news outlet since saying there hasn't been an official bid. made. Doesn't mean West Ham aren't interested but the deserve a boot in the boot in the baws for putting it on their website

This would be the wrong move for him I reckon. Being realistic though, we get offered £30 million(which I really doubt) and if he is keen to go, we should take it.

It's guaranteed money probably equal to CL qualification and it would give us plenty time to assemble a better team for CL next season.

Edit: quoted other posts by accident

Was cool as eff taking a high pressure penalty. I don't know who else in the team at the time would've had the baws. Astana was it? I can't mind.
Griffiths took the first one right on the stroke of half time. He would have taken the second but for the fact he'd been subbed. Moussa is a brilliant player but there's plenty of others in the squad who have shown they're willingness to stand up and be counted.

griffiths was still on the park and flicked the ball on for dembele to win the penalty.

dembele was first choice penalty taker from the first game this season. when we were awarded a penalty at home to lincoln he was hitting it before the linesman said the foul was outside the box

Up until this year I'd have said a £20million or higher bid is a no-brainer and the club will sell.....but we are at an odd and critical point for the club.

We've seen a huge turn around in optimism and enthusiasm from the support this season and sustaining that may very well be more important than banking a £19 million profit on a player who only joined us in the summer.

Selling our best at this point could de-rail that wave of optimism and even stall the progress of the team.

Of course the caveat to that is that if the player himself wants to play in the EPL so desperately (or is chasing a higher wage) that he'll go to a mid/lower table side then it might be counter productive to force him to stay against his will.

Feck knows....at this point we don't even know if there is a real bid on the table.

The suggestion we should sell him now and get him immediately back on loan is bonkers. We develop him so his new club can double their outlay for him? Naw!

Shouldn't be sold now or in the summer.

Keep.
