We will be holding out for a bid from a top 4 club in the summer.

We want to break this barricade of selling to lower EPL clubs before they move on to a big one.

If we can sell direct to a big one then its game on.
I'd rather get another season out of him and hopefully a CL campaign in there too. Lets not restrict ourselves to the English league either.
Its where our big players go though, recently anyway.

VVD and Wanyama could have went to a top 4 club from us but they didn't due to the big clubs not wanting to spend money on a "risk"

We need to break this barrier to the top clubs in England and Moussa may just do that
The two examples youve linked are reasons why yhe top 4 should be taking note of our players. Cut out the middle man

Who are the top 4 ? ??

Man U Man C Arsenal Chelsea??

Or are Spurs and Liverpool involved

I get your point though and if true( and I'm happy to believe you based on your previous ) then that would be significant

On the basis that he will go this year some time, and ideally we would like to keep him until we qualify for the CL 2017-8, but might not, is there not something to be said for cashing in now and buying someone who will definitely be around in August ?
No.

We got £13m for Virgil and he's going to move for £60m just over a year later.

Anything under £30m for Dembele will be daylight robbery.

West Ham have lodged a £20million bid for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

The 20-year-old French youth international only arrived at Parkhead in June, signing a four year contract after interest from a host of top European clubs, but has proven himself to be a top performer in the Champions League, where he scored twice against Manchester City.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he does not intend to lose Dembele in January, though he acknowledges the Scottish champions will not be able to keep hold of their star striker indefinitely.

“It won't be January for Moussa,” Rodgers said. “You know at Celtic that if you get a really talented player, then the cycle at best is a couple of years, like Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk and Ki Sung-yueng.

“If they have that quality, then it's a great platform for them to demonstrate that and then they know there's a better financial situation down south.”

However a bid of £20m may well test Rodgers’ resolve and shows the esteem in which Dembele is held by West Ham, against whom the youngster made his Premier League debut in 2013. The fee would nearly match the Hammers' club record, which they paid to bring Andre Ayew from Swansea last summer.

Andre Ayew record signing...says it all. Come back with £50m and I'd have a think.

I'd rather we kept him for 2 seasons then if we sell ICGAF where he goes. We won't sign a replacement as good as him in all likelihood so I'd rather have him here for longer than have an extra £5 million.

£20 million? They should stick to selling dildos, or keep a few back and go eff themselves.

Don't think club would accept this - although I'm not sure we'd sniff at it either. Any club has to consider a transfer fee which is basically a third of their overall turnover. It's like Man Yoo getting a bid of £100 million for a player.

But anyway, I think club knows he's worth more and, more importantly maybe, that selling him against the wishes of the manager would be a total disaster at this point.

Sorry West Ham, go sign Defoe.

Did he not knock back Spurs already?
Guy wants to win things, progress & become the best player in the world.
He's here to do that & he says he's happy.

Yes we're a stepping stone, but not to non elite clubs - even if they are in an elite league.
Hoping we now only sell our elite players directly to the elite clubs.

Unless we get offered insane money he'll be here for at least two seasons. It might be a gamble holding on to him for another year in case he gets injured or suffers a dip in form but if Rodgers wants to risk it then I reckon the board will support him.

That's a lot of money. At times like these I'm glad I'm not in charge of negotiations because I'd crumble.

Hopefully Moussa has his sights set higher than West Ham. There's every chance they could be relegated this year.
