Though it's big money after only a few months with us, i'd risk he will improve and make us more.
I'd hope he stays but that's the big question.
£20m in now guaranteed or risk the future. The problem arises if the player himself says he wants to go.I know what he has said up til' now but there was nothing on the table then.If there's a definite bid from an EPL club then minds can quickly change.
If he has any sense he'll say no to West Ham as there are undoubtedly bigger clubs that he can go to and have a better chance to further his reputation.

A middling club like West Ham would see him score far less goals than a Man Utd for instance.

He can do better than West Ham. I also don't think we will be taken for mugs when it comes to the fee, this lad is going to set a Scottish record that will probably never be broken.

No idea who but who else could it be??

To that end, a bid of £20m – a figure close to the Club’s all-time transfer record – was submitted for a player from Scotland.

Edit: Just seen it in the transfer thread. :getmecoat:

If it genuinely is a bid of £20m ponds, then they should absolutely tell them to bolt. An opening offer is never the most that will be possible to get. Besides, as good as a big bid is, there's no point unless we have a replacement, and alternative players lined up to improve the team.

That kind of money will still be on the table in the summer, and likely for the following two transfer windows.

Keep him for this and next season.

West Ham have lodged a £20million bid for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

The 20-year-old French youth international only arrived at Parkhead in June, signing a four year contract after interest from a host of top European clubs, but has proven himself to be a top performer in the Champions League, where he scored twice against Manchester City.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he does not intend to lose Dembele in January, though he acknowledges the Scottish champions will not be able to keep hold of their star striker indefinitely.

“It won't be January for Moussa,” Rodgers said. “You know at Celtic that if you get a really talented player, then the cycle at best is a couple of years, like Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk and Ki Sung-yueng.

“If they have that quality, then it's a great platform for them to demonstrate that and then they know there's a better financial situation down south.”

However a bid of £20m may well test Rodgers’ resolve and shows the esteem in which Dembele is held by West Ham, against whom the youngster made his Premier League debut in 2013. The fee would nearly match the Hammers' club record, which they paid to bring Andre Ayew from Swansea last summer.

By all accounts, he knocked back bigger clubs than West Ham to come here. In that time he's only enhanced his reputation. To take the relative risk in coming here (and the risk paying off it has to be said) to then six months later taking a move he could have had in the summer, just doesn't make sense. He'll go on to bigger and better things than them.

Brendan has already said he's going nowhere in January.

The earliest we should consider selling is once we've qualified for the CL next season.

I think Moussa will stay for another year.

If £20m is a genuine opening offer, he could go for anything..

I still hope we can keep hold of him for another year though, love the big man

If it's 20+ mill up front can we really knock it back?

Over 40x what you paid after 6 months is incredible, hope he doesn't go but money talks

If he signed for West Ham in the summer I doubt he would have :

a) Improved as a footballer
b) Enhanced his reputation

Moussa would not entertain a move to them even if we were to accept a bid this window.

BR is pushing the idea that we are an ideal club to come to for top young talent. They will get great coaching, first team experience at a demanding club and the real chance to play in the CL.

Cutting and running 6 months into a deal if the player isn't looking for the move kind of undermines our claims.

Unless the player indicates a desire to sell then we should sit tight. The fact we have a decent balance sheet should demand we sit tight.

Yes I'm sure Moussa would turn down the opportunity to double or treble his wages.

Maybe he will stay for the amazing fans up here

If we accept the bid he will be away.
