Ah, so I'm desperate to talk down a striker! You've got me. I didn't realise I was having a conversation with one of the few who cannot tolerate any sort of criticism of our players just because he's one of our players. I didn't realise there was immunity to discussing obvious poor form.

I can't make it any clearer or say it in words any simpler for you to grasp, if dembele is on form I would have him start any game ahead of griff. I firmly believe he is better when he's on form. Do you understand that? Believe me, I would love dearly to have dembele on form and playing well so we don't even need to have this conversation and you can rest easy knowing that nobody is saying anyone in a Celtic jersey isn't playing well.

I think you do need to watch it again (but why bother, why let a fresh look at the goal alter your opinion in the interest of accuracy). If you think dembele has lost a marker to get that chance you've clearly remembered it differently than the reality. But I suppose, perception is reality so if your memory of the goal is so skewed then I understand why we're having this chat.

And my highlight reel is an irrelevance to this conversation, it doesn't make the chance any easier/harder for our French u21 20milliom rated superstar who's out of form. I could be the worst player to grace the earth, but it Doesn't take away Fromm the circumstances of the goal making it one of the easiest he will ever score.
You never said it was one of the easiest he's score, you said that it was one that anyone on this board could score, look back that's the only part of your post I highlighted in my original response. I picked you up on your hyperbole, which you've now changed in your other posts.

I never said you couldn't have an opinion, look at my subsequent posts I said myself Dembele is off the boil, I never said you couldn't comment on players form this is also hyperbole.

I don't need to watch the goal again as I've seen it on numerous occasions, I'm one of these saddos that watches our highlights several times before the next game.

Your highlight reel is relevant because you were using your apparent prowess as a striker, as a measuring stick to how difficult Dembele's goal was to score. If you don't want others to compare you, then don't compare yourself in the first place.

I commented on your post initially because of your hyperbole, both the Griffiths and Dembele threads are full of it, the only way for real discussion to take place though is if the hyperbole stops.

By all means have your opinion I'm in no way saying you can't or aren't entitled to post it, but don't post telling us how you could score the goal "our French u21 20milliom rated superstar" did and not expect to be pulled on it.
I didn't. I replied to another poster who said they'd seen me play and said I'd miss it. My reply that I've MISSED easier and scored harder - clearly was tongue in cheek but such was your fervour to defend defend defend you must have missed the post I was replying to and the subsequent sarcasm in my reply.

My sentence in regard to anyone on here scoring it was simply to highlight the ease of the goal, and not in the most literal sense for which you have taken it.

And you must have watched different highlights to me if you think dembele lost a marker. Maybe you need to watch it some more.

However, Your assertion that my opinion is only offered in attempt to make another look Better is still ridiculous.

Your original post said it was a tap in that anyone on this board could have scored. I can't be arsed going back through the thread to prove it.

Anyway. In summary.

Dembele is brilliant.
He's just not playing brilliant just now.
He was poor when he came on v Hamilton
His goal v Hamilton was as simple a goal he's ever gonna score.
He wasn't the best yesterday either.
My opinion that dembele is playing poor is not so griffiths looks better.
Dembele will probably start the OF.

Reading the recent opinions of previous posters who disagree with regards to the finer points of who's in better form it just goes to show how far we've come.

We're discussing the tiniest details and it's fantastic that here at our club we have a 40-goal-a season striker versus a potential £20m+ French international player.

For what it's worth I'd start Griffiths at the moment and have Dembele as a super-sub until Leigh's performances start to wane. Not so sure that previous matches show that they play particularly well when played as a front two. Jury still out on that methinks.

But oh, what a dilemma for Brendan to have. It's magic.

I'd go with that. LG starts, Dembele finishes them off.

I thought his goal was a tidy finish and in no way easy. Let it come across his body then first time side foot into the net :ponder:

If I've done my math right he's averaging 2 goals per game against Sevco ... here's hoping he has an above-average afternoon on Saturday.

He'll be well up for this game on Saturday. Rough them up, score a few then off to a standing ovation. Sparky comes on and delivers the final blows.

It wasn't an easy finish. He made it look easy. He could easily have effed it up and put it wide.

Dembele has been poor recently however he has done well against sevco the last 2 games he will probably play and with the atmosphere of the game and the fact he's up against a poor defence will probably score a few.I feel sorry for Griffiths who although isn't in top form himself is still scoring and probably deserves to start but I'm sure will come on and hopefully get a goal or two himself.

He's got to start against the hun. He's a far superior player to Griffiths, we play better with him in the side, and the huns will be feart of him.

I actually think Griffiths is the slightly better all round player but they are very different. However Dembele's style is all wrong for the Huns so I'd start him tomorrow and would be confident of him scoring despite a relatively poor run.
