Agreed. Bonkers to suggest it'll be less.

Folk moan about papers doing their best to sell our good players over the years yet as fans, many are equally guilty of giving these stories credence.

So, IF he gets a French call up and IF he continued to bang in goals in Europe, perhaps even bagging some against Barca and City again, would you still be confident about him being here in two years?
I wouldn't.

Aye. We're absolutely obsessed about selling players. Soon as they show a bit of talent it's all about how much we're gonna sell them for and when.

So, somebody comes in with 15m offer in January, we say no, they come back with !8m. Hard to knock back a 16.7m turnaround profit in 6 months. Ideal situation in this situation is that we have Berahino on a pre-contract on 1st January and sign him for a token transfer once 18m is accepted for Moussa....having said all that.....want Moussa here for a couple of seasons at least.

I couldn't tell you the last time I read a paper let alone bought one, or worse listened to one of those cretinous radio shows. I can't speak for anyone else but I think we'll be doing well to keep him for two seasons - that's not to say he won't but it's not 'bonkers' to suggest otherwise, it's the reality of where we are.

He seems a sensible lad and I hope he's here for a while yet - love watching him play.

Rodgers clearly won't want his best players sold from under him and probably wouldn't hang around for long if that happened. In any case, Dembele is young and there's time aplenty to cash in on his value, there needn't be any rush. And, while it has become easy to expect the worst from the Celtic board, surely even they know the value of a strong squad of high quality players and what its earning potential is. Our CL campaign this season will make us more than the transfer fee for one of the players who has made it happen.

We've got a well run and financially secure club, and with a real manager for the first time in a while. There is neither need nor desire to offload one of our best talents.

No. 7 for France? He's going a far way to put himself into the same breath as other No. 7's we've been gifted down the years.
Ljungberg, Miku, Juninho, Zurawski and the likes?
How dar you spoil the memory of Miku by mentioning him in the same breath as this Dembele upstart... :arrr:

Sell Dembele for less than he's worth, and sign Berahino to replace him? That's the most bizarre definition of an ideal situation I've seen in some time.

I've only gave my opinion on the past few pages and I'm not eager to off our best players

My own personal view on Dembele specifically is that he will still be here in January, I even think he will be here after the Summer as I just can't see him bagging 25m for us without another good showing in the CL because of the league we play in the EPL will not go above a certain amount, unless its an all out bidding war. That said if a substantial offer was to come in, during any of the windows, I just cant see them not accepting it, if its crazy money.

worse than that there is some on here who not only seem desperate to sell our best players but for way under their value . some on here suggested we sell vvd for 6m as we wouldn't get anymore , wanyama for 8m for the same season and forster even less.

As far as I can see, not one person has said they want Dembele to leave.

Celtic are a selling club; it's not nice but that's the reality. I see a lot of posts mentioning Rodgers and how he wouldn't accept Dembele being sold; Rodgers is on record as stating that at some point, he knows he'll be sold.

Nobody wants it to happen, they're just disagreeing with the view that should it come in January, the club would turn down an offer of £25m. To say that makes those fans "eager to sell" or "obsessed about selling" our best players, is absolute pish.

As soon as any player starts playing well, they go from having often being labelled pish to people wondering how we'll be able to hold onto them. It's a regular theme.

Maybe it was always like this, but I don't remember it like so.

Dembele maybe a different kettle of fish, but even he was labelled something of a dud by quite a few on here early in the season.

Selling our best players is shampooe but it's how we get by. With regular CL football, not easy I know, maybe things will change a bit but Dembele is so good the big boys will be trying to sign him this summer. We're under no pressure to sell so best to just enjoy seeing a player of that standard playing for us for 2 seasons.

It wasn't always that way, but it has been for a few years now; perhaps since around the time we sold Ki? Since then, a succession of players have been 'bought low and sold high'. At the moment, the philosophy of signing great players and having them at their peak is not one the club is choosing to pursue. Maybe things will change in the future but until then, if we ever have a player who is excelling, there will be talk of him leaving for a lot of money.

That doesn't mean anybody wants the guy to leave, it's just the nature of modern football. Hitting out with patter like "doing the press' job for them" is garbage; talking about the reality of a situation doesn't make it any more or less of a reality!

Not to mention that the possible future transfers of our best players is actually quite an interesting discussion as bigger fees should lead to continued growth on the field.
