Would love us to get a quality CM in and keep Dembele for another year or two. That combination, and a favourable draw, would give us a right good shot at the last 16 of the CL.

What does it matter if one of his goals was a penalty? :ponder:

He won that penalty.

3 goals in 4 champions league games isn't bad. That's to add to his goals in the qualifiers too.
I think when you are asking for £30m for a striker then he will be judged mainly on how many goals he scores from open play - that's why it matters IMO.

He's scored 2 goals from open play in the Champions League and 1 of them was offside. :ph43r:

My point is that for a player playing in Scotland to go for £30m then he needs to be an absolute stand out in the CL. Dembele has been a stand out for us and has been good by anyones standards but is it enough to get £30m? I'm not so sure.
You don't look at the goals they score from open play, you look at what attributes they have.

Players have various attributes but it's not very often you get a player who is two players rolled into one. A typical forward line would consist of a goal scorer and a target man i.e. Larsson/Sutton. Dembele brings it all. Those type of players are extremely hard to come by. Players like Drogba and Shearer are those type of players are few and far between. Dembele has the potential to be even better than them imo.

The boy is outstanding and is going to be the complete striker that every top club in Europe will be wanting to sign. His CL goals have come in arguably the toughest group which only adds significance to his value.

Messi and Ronaldo are on the way out. I fully believe him when he says he wants to become the best player in the world.

How about Real Madrid give us £20 million for first dibs, and then give us some proper cash at the end of next season.

He hasn't even been here half a season yet and we're tying ourselves in knots over the different ways that we can structure the deal to sell him. Can we just enjoy him while he's here and have all this patter when it actually looks like he's going to move?

If he keeps playing so impressively and scoring in the CL and for France, that can only help his development and benefit us as he'll be a bigger threat to whoever we're playing against. There's pages and pages of posts on here from folk who see him play well and instantly think what that'll do to his transfer fee

According to his twitter timeline ( via Video Celts) he doesn`t even have boot deal, preferring to wear boots he finds comfy. He bears no resemblance to the modern young footballer we have come to expect, him and Tierney are a breath of fresh air.

He is a special player, cool as eff and supremely grounded.

Don't worry Daily Record... Dave King is going to open the warchest any day now and buy Moussa for £50,000,000 as a GIRUY to Celtic. That'll show them!

Precisely - the orthodoxy of 1 up top these days requires a complete striker like those guys, or even like Larsson, whose aerial ability completely cancelled out his lack of height. Players like that are rare as hen's teeth these days, and we've managed to unearth one. Given these things, every club with a modicum of intelligence will be after him, because even at the prices being quoted, he'd be a bargain.

A typical forward line these days only consists of one striker and there is plenty of them at the highest levels of the game. There is no shortage of players with the ability to play up top on there own. A striker can have all the attributes in the world but if he can't put the ball in the back of the net it means nothing.

I think we are getting way ahead of ourselves here and need to reign it in a bit. Potential to be better than Drogba and Shearer? Two of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen right there. To become half the player any of them where in their prime he has a lot of improving to do.

It looks like I'm having a go at him as a player - I'm not. I think he has been tremendous for us this season but there is definitely parts of his game that need to improve before any comparisons to Drogba or Shearer would be met with anything other than laughter.

Messi and Ronaldo may be coming to the later parts of their careers but Messi had already made his debut for Barcelona and Argentina by the age of 18.

Dybala cost Juventus 32m euros.

Andy Carroll cost Liverpool 30m on the back of a season in the championship. Think about that.

Madrid can eff off

If he is worth £20M just now his value is just going to rocket. Our board know that and they aren't going to drop their suit trousers for the first offer that comes their way.

We are a selling club. Under no illusions of that but this kid is going straight to the top. We will cash in for much higher than £20M.

Zidane has helped us everytime he opens his mouth about Moussa. He absolutely raves about the kid. When one of the games greats goes weak at the knees you know you have a talent on your hands.
It would be a very stupid move for Dembele as it's a heavily odds on chance that RM will have a new manager in place in 2 years time.
