Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Real deals don't go for a mere £15-£20M old chap :i_say:

13.5mill for VVD and he was poor in the CL, Dembele has 3 in 4 games, he's already worth more than VVD. Another year and and half and he will go for an absolute fortune.
Our three big sales in the last few years have all been defensive players (Wanyama, Forster & Van Dijk). Strikers though are invariably more expensive than defenders. If we were to sell him in Janury or the coming summer (and I'm certainly not advocating that we do) I honestly think £20m is the absolute minimum we could ask for him.

I'd take another season of him in the team - or even better another two seasons - before accepting any bids though, no matter what they're offering.

Edit - I would also be perfectly happy for us to get Henrik over to explain to him that you can stay at Celtic for seven years and still be a world class striker with a bunch of nice medals to look at when you retire. Yes, I think I could live with that scenario

Took him a while to get going but once he did the only way they could stop him was by fouling him.

What a player this guy has turned out to be. The only worry is the bids start coming in January, but hopefully he will stick around for a few seasons. He is rapidly looking like becoming the best striker to play for Celtic since Larsson.

7 years of Dembele would be a dream come true. The clubs improving massively, we're ambitious, expectations are high, we don't need to sell but Dembele is too good for us to hold on to for more than 2 seasons. If we sign players like McCarthy or Roberts permanently, you never know but I can't see it.

He's better than Larsson was at 20.

3 or 4 years from now this guy is going to be the same bracket of top tier strikers as Suraez and Aguero are now.
He's that good.

That's a fair point. I think the sky is the limit for this guy, sometimes find it hard to believe Celtic got him, but pleased all the same. It will be interesting to see if he gets a call-up to the French full squad in the near future.

I would like to know why people are so adamant he is leaving at the end of the season. The kid himself has said he is happy here and wants to be at a CL team to help his development. If teams are sniffing about just now and offer us £20-25M after one season how much are we going to get when he starts hitting top gear?

Calm down and enjoy him but I do think we will get 2-3 years out him.
We will most likely get a few bids for him next summer. If a bid came in over 15m or so, I think we would accept it.

He's some player.

To think some people said he wouldn't score 20 goals this season
£15m? :lmao:

Have you drunk all the wine?
Someone at the Scotsman seems to have drunk even more - £40M?

Chelsea join Dembele race CHELSEA have joined the race for £40 million-rated Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, as interest in the youngster heightens with the January transfer window approaching. The France U21 star has already been linked with PSG, Arsenal, Bayern Munich Manchester City and Manchester United, while Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is reportedly mulling over a buy-and-loan-back deal. Zidane has already told the 19-year-old to stay at Celtic at least in the short term while Dembele himnself has insisted he is at Celtic for the long term. (Various)

This is football now. Whilst I doubt that we would get anywhere near £40m for him, I can totally see why that figure is being thrown about. The big teams in the Premier League can recuperate most of their costs for "flop" transfers because the small teams can pay a bit more now. Look at Benteke at Liverpool he had terrible time there and was bought for £32m was branded a flop, but Crystal Palace spent £27.5m to get him from Liverpool.

That being said, Arkadiusz Milik went to Napoli from Ajax for £35m.

I can't stop whistling his song today. I swore after Virgil, Victor, Fraser etc that I wouldn't give my heart to another Celtic player who is clearly destined for a big money move, but I've fallen for Moussa

Isolated up top with sinclair for almost every CL game we've played. Wins the ball almost every time he goes up for it then finds a man to pass too. Incredible talent.
