£40'miolion? If serious offers come in at that Value... take it and run.

However I'd Take £20mil+ offer in January with a loan back for remainder of this season and next.

If I was feeling extraordinarily pessimistic I have a lingering fear that we'll get a semi decent offer, refuse it, and he'll go in a Pierre Van Hooijdonk type sulk over it. He's got the similar gait of mardy arseness about him.

(To racially balance this post I thought O'Riordan and Watt had the the same quality, just sadly without any actual talent to back it up)

I`m sure the 40 million is shampooe, but if serious we should take it. That`s an amazing bit of business and if that were spent on the squad then why not. He`ll go anyway, maybe on a free or after being petulant.

No big english/spanish/german or french club will pay a scottish club huge money for any player, the best we will get is approx 15-18m and maybe a half decent sell on clause, simply because they know money is tight up here and we cannot afford to knock it back.......unless he gets into the france squad and does well then we might get a serious bidding war, but its up to him really if, when and where he goes.

personally i hope he keeps improving and signs a new contract, im sick of our best players getting sold after 2 seasons but i understand that we need to do it.

In the meantime im just gonnae enjoy watching him

I would be offering the lad a new five-year deal right now on our maximum salary.

The thing is, we're not exactly desperate for money. We're in a good position and I don't think we're in a position where any offer is a good offer. We've just made an absolute killing off the Champions League, so we don't need to sell a £10M player again this season to make up for the shortfall. It's a big ask, especially with the changes to qualification to the Champions League, but if we qualify for that every year, or every second year even, I don't think we'll be in a position where we need to sell players like Dembele, Sviatchenko and Tierney. We'd be well within our rights to tell the English clubs to eff off and to pay what they'd pay for him if he was playing for a Championship team. They wouldn't be paying Fulham £15M for him, so there's no reason we should accept it either.

Suspect you are right. Still worth pushing boat out right now and try to insert a sizeable buy-out clause.

If he hasn't currently got a buy out clause what sense does it make to make a new contract with one?

Wouldn't be suprised if he was on 35k a week currently to be honest.

Not wanting to be over critical but he's still got lots to do before he's at the level of the clubs that have been linked. Maybe I'm expecting too much but felt like Huns and Aberdeen defence dealt with him reasonably OK :twitch:

The dragback nutmeg on McLean was great thought :worthy:

I dont see why fans are perturbed about the discussion of Dembele leaving or the reports about big clubs in Europe being interested in him. This is a genuine no lose situation. It has to be noted this was the English edition of the paper reporting on one of our players and it didnt low ball the figure because he plays in Scotland. Even if you dont believe the fee quoted, and the majority of us dont, unless there is some unknown escape clause, the likely fee we will receive for Dembele when he does move is going to be massive. This sort of speculation is good.If the worst was to happen and Dembele leaves us for a low figure it is because he has regressed or that the market has collapsed but if the best was to happen Dembele himself would bring more cash into the club than a Champions League season. Can you imagine what Rodgers would do with a decent amount of that sort of money available to him?

There's nothing to suggest that he will go in a sulk.

Also the racially balanced comment is unnecessary.

Got no service on saturday.

Apologies, I meant the semi final Huns game..

Wonderful goal but he wasn't very dominant in the air at Hampden. He was decent enough on Saturday but don't think he ran the Aberdeen defence ragged.

Just to clarify, I do love the guy  just talking in the context of those apparent interested clubs.
