Hugely ironic.

But no. Firstly, I'd rather he stay and flourish with us. If and when he goes, I want him to go for as much as possible; I just don't feel that we will get more than the average fee we've been receiving for our top players.
So you think we'll not get any more than what we have for our previous big sales. That is despite the transfer market exploding down south since the last of those sales?
Despite the position Dembele plays in being the position where players go for big money?
Despite Spurs already bidding £6million for him when he only had 6 months of his contract left to run at a time he hadnt played and scored at Champions League level?

You might find it ironic I think you're talking shampooe but you should think things through before playing down our chances of getting big money for Dembele.
I will be ecstatic to be proven wrong when/if the time comes.

When the time comes, if he only leaves for £12million, you wont be that sad to see him go.

That is obviously not taking into account any unforeseen collapse in the market.

Did you expect VVD to be sold for £12m ?

Sell him to Madrid in the summer for £40 million. Then they loan him back to us for 2 years. Sorted.

We have all the aces here. He's only just signed ffs! Chelscum et al can do one until a couple of seasons have passed.

Second? In the running for the top European boy. Scoring for fun and scoring in the CL. One of the greatest players of my generation says the boys going to be an absolute star. All that so early in his career and people think the fee will be on a par with VVD's???

When we cash in on him it will be for 20m plus easily. The boys going to be a superstar. Those dont come cheap regardless of the league.

I think he realises he's still got a lot to learn and he'll learn a lot more playing for us than playing in man city reserves so I'll be very surprised if he left in the summer. His career seems more important for him than chasing the money.

Since Di Canio, have we sold anyone (against our will) after just one season?

Based on his arsegrapes giving him jip. Man U paid £36 million for Martial ffs.

Not forgetting that Dembele counts as a homegrown English player for CL squads due to spending enough of his youth football at Fulham.
My arsegrapes haven't flared up in months :arrr:

Yes, they did. Monaco with their Russian sugar daddy did not have to sell and ergo were in a position of power when negotiations opened. Again, we will do well to get 12m for him.
And we, with Champions league cash and his four year deal, dont need to sell either.
Ffs, he's worth a fair bit more than 12m already. :cuckoo:
20m + will not be out of the question.
If he scores and plays well for France u-21's, us in the CL and or gets a call up to the French national squad, then 20m is an absolute minimum.

The closest is Viduka. Signed in December 1998. Throws his wobbler, only makes his debut in February 1999. Sold in the summer of 2000 after a season and a bit of football for us.

He's a top quality player, I'm just going to enjoy Moussassin while he's here, the rest will take care of itself.

I agree. He's a very good player just now, but still has elements of his game that he needs to work on. That counts in our favour as teams might not yet take that 'gamble' on him for a large fee, and as you say, it might keep with us for at least another year or two to see him develop to that level.

For the level he should be aspiring to, he won't get there without taking the Southampton (or equivalent) route first at this current point in time. He seems quite level headed, so I reckon he'll be patient.

On top of that, as long as Brendan Rodgers is here, I think Moussa will see that with participation in the CL, winning medals and the club having a higher level of ambition than previous years, it's a no brainer that he should taste some of that first before taking a leap.

That's the only one I could think of.

Since di Canio we've kept the likes of Larsson, Petrov, Boruc, McGeady, Hooper, Wanyama, Forster, and van Dijk longer than the press suggested we would/could.

we would only cash in now if there was a risk his value would fall, right now can only see it going one way, even if board wanted to sell i doubt his agent and him will be too keen to go if its the wrong move for him would defeat purpose of him joining us in summer

This will be relentless

Msm love this pish - they've got him out the door already

They never talk of how good this is for Celtic or having someone with potential in our league is a good thing - just how we will lose him
That's all you get on here too. As soon as someone gets a run of good form they're going to make us however many millions.

we also refused good offers and kept the likes of wanyama, van dijk, ki, hooper and forster a year longer than they wanted rather than cashing in at first opportunity

Same as in the summer then? :ponder:

I had my doubts for the first couple of games, but the guy is dynamite. Hope to keep him for a couple of seasons but ill be happy if we can cash in massively.
