Lucky to get five or 6m for Virgil according to some of the luminaries on here. If he is in demand by top clubs it's almost certain he will smash the record set by VvD.

More importantly, the 3 big signings from us to the EPL, big Vic FF and VvD have all turned out to be a steal for Southampton.

God only knows what VvD is going to go to one of the big 6 for, £25m £30m?

£40 million is fantasy, but £20 million isn't all that daft.

The going rate for an EPL striker these days is around that (amazingly!) ad there's some real dross going for that.

If you factor in decent champions league stats in what is proving to be an outgunned team, then £20 million doesn't look that silly.

Only if he goes to an EPL club though. Anywhere else in Europe a sensible price would be between £9m-£12 million.

EPL clubs are bonkers though. When his time comes, and I hope that will not be for another year or two, we should be actively looking to punt him to that league.

If we do, £20 million is certainly achievable.

I reckon that if he stays on current form we would probably sell him for about 35m at the end of next season.

- Van Dijk, Forster and Wanyama all going for £10-£13m and being huge successes benefits us greatly.

- The market is even madder now

- He's a striker

- Younger than those 3

- Scoring in Europe

- And he can't be far off the France squad

He'll smash the Scottish transfer record when he goes.

It depends if he can get into the France side. If he does and scoes a few there we could easily get 30m plus. As it stands he is easily a 20m player already.

He has it all.
He's only 20 & already building a solid reputation.
He'll burst our transfer record wide open, £30m+

I think he'll stay for 2 seasons & then go intergalactic, leaving with a shamrock tattoo.

The fact he's a striker will also ensure he goes for a considerably greater transfer fee than the likes if Van Dijk and Wanyama.

Not to mention he's a better prospect than either of those were/are - which is pretty scary.

This will be relentless

Msm love this pish - they've got him out the door already

They never talk of how good this is for Celtic or having someone with potential in our league is a good thing - just how we will lose him

After he scores his match winning hat trick against Barcelona on Nov 23rd we could get that in January.

No idea when he will go hopefully a few seasons down the line but if he keeps developing his game, running riot and we have a bidding war he could go for £20m + if he bypasses the Southampton like step up and goes straight to one of the real Big Guns.

Tottenham rated Dembele at £10million before he came up here. Since he has scored more goals for Fulham, banged them in for fun for Celtic, led the line as well as any 20 year old striker I have seen against a top European team in Manchester City, played and scored for France Under 21s. Why would we accept any less than £20-25million.

We were shafted for Virgil, Wanyama and Forster. Collectively they must be worth over £100million. Their success proves that Celtic and the SPFL should not be frowned upon where the development of top class players is involved.

We should make sure when the time comes we aren't short changed for Dembele and Tierney.

If we get 10-12m we will be doing very well. Were he playing in any of the top 4 leagues, 40m may not be far off the mark. Alas :(
You honestly think we will be "doing well" to get 10-12m for Dembele. Based on what?
Based on recent transfer amounts for our top assets. The guy is clearly talented and definitely has the potential to be a £40m player; however, the fact we are in the SPFL will reduce the value.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he absolutely blitzes the record fee that we have received till now.

I'd be amazed if he doesn't have a release clause in his contract allowing him to leave for a very modest fee unfortunately.

And if he did they'd have already signed him up to a new contract with him getting a % of the final fee we get for him by now
