Good to know that we have him contracted until 2020.
Nice interview with him.

Overhead kick or tap-in.. they all count for Celtic hitman Moussa Dembele

It's a magic feeling having one of the best young strikers in Europe on the books.

Fulham came out of that transfer window with Moussa and £1.5m gone, along with Stefan Johansen on their books.

Who cares though? It's way down the line so deal with it at the time.

Dembele scores twice in Europe and the place is littered with folk going on about how much money he'll get us when he inevitably leaves.
Enjoying him while he's here and discussing his value aren't mutually exclusive.

He's going to be a superstar and I wouldn't be surprised if he's courted by the top teams in the summer.
Sooner than that, unfortunately.

But I get the feeling that Moussa is quite a well-balanced young man, and understands that the value of playing in the type of game we saw a couple nights ago is far greater than sitting on the bench in London or Munich.

Or else why did he come in the first place?

I agree that Moussa is our No.1 striker now. Maybe a bit harsh on Griffiths who I think has been excellent but I think in the big games, it's plain to see that the man is a class above.

It's certainly changed days from us when we used to look at bringing on a sub and can only see the likes of Rasmussen, Balde, Pukki, Bangura, Lassad, Miku waiting on the bench.

Bayern apparently scouting him. I think when he does go he will skip Southampton etc and go straight to one of the top 10 or so clubs in Europe.

Real Madrid can't sign him immediately even if they wanted to because of their impeding transfer ban. Unless they can sign him and wait until their ban is over before moving like Barcelona with Arda Turan.

He will be the first player this century to go for money to club that's not only richer, but bigger, than us.

I assume that John Park and Peter Lawwell aren't to blame for this signing?
I could've sworn he said that we were in for him in the winter transfer window last season.

If Moussa scores another few goals in the CL and maintains his high scoring domestic form, 20m euros will not be enough for one of the hottest strikers in Europe who's on a 4 year deal. Samaras was far less a prospect when city paid roughly 8m euros and that was dunkeys ago. Prices have rocketed since then and all eyes in Europe are on Dembele.
Goal scorers - at this level - are the most precious of all players, and to find one just turned 20 is a very rare event indeed. If he stays on this trajectory I think we should be looking for between 30 and 40 million euros - or no deal - with a share in the sell-on because I think one day he will move for something completely ridiculous.

Jamie Carragher full of praise for him in his weekly column today, naming him as 'Man of the Week.'

Quote:

MAN OF THE WEEK - MOUSSA DEMBELE

Missing a penalty in the Nou Camp could demoralise some players but the Celtic striker responded in magnificent fashion against Manchester City.

He was up against the best team in Britain yet was a constant threat and his second goal — a deft, hooked volley — showed what a fine young talent Dembele is; he could have gone into his shell with the memory of what happened in Barcelona but he blossomed.

Brendan Rodgers has unearthed a gem. He only cost £500,000 from Fulham and with Rodgers’ background in developing young players, there is no question Dembele is in the right place to prosper. He only had to see Raheem Sterling at Parkhead to see how Rodgers handles young talent.

Already the 20-year-old looks like an absolute bargain and, if he keeps scoring at the rate he has been, Celtic are going to struggle to keep him but potential suitors will have to be wary: if Celtic do eventually sell him, then it is going to be for a fee 20 or 30 times more than their initial outlay.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3816295/It-s-bad-West-Ham-better-don-t-sack-Slaven-Bilic.html

Never mind 20 or 30 times the initial outlay. 40 times just gets you to the table to start negotiating :rocker:

Nice to see people outside of Scotland taking notice of what we're upto again. Last time we had this much global attention for a perfomance on the pitch was nearly 4 years ago. Can only be a good thing in trying to persuade more guys who are in in Dembélé's shoes from last summer to consider us as a decent option.

If Dembele keeps playing like he is we'll want more than £20million and i dont doubt we'll get it.

When you look at some of the fees being talked about for the likes of Troy Deeney then £20million for Dembele would be a steal.
