I'm glad you were able to send on to the coaching staff analysis like "His close ball control in and around the box is non existent as is his heading ability" and "Tell me what he brings then because I sure can't see it". To graciously come on here and let us know you were right all along is a touch of class, well done.

It was more you trying to claim some sort of retrospective kudos for his 'improvement' (he was settling in ffs) when you in fact literally couldn't see what he brought to the team. It's no big deal to be wrong or have wildly inconsistent opinions about a player but crowing about it is some laugh mate.

effing phenomenal last night. Seen people blaming him for the pass to Brown, but personally thought that Scott was half asleep. Was kinda obvious Moussa was looking for the pass inside.

The best striking performance I can remember from a Celtic player in Europe for some time. Delighted for him.
Agreed. He was Moussa's only out ball but had totally switched off and reacted very late to the pass
The pass was very poor.
It wasn't great, no, but it was obvious that was what he was about to try. Brown is at fault as much as the Moussa, for me. He had very few options on and it's in that instance that your defensive minded midfielder should be ready to receive the pass. Brown was asleep in the most important part of the pitch. That's worse than a slightly slack pass that still went to roughly where it should have.

Not moaning about Brown btw as it can all happen in the blink of an eye and you're talking milliseconds to react accordingly.

I have translated this article in French from the website Footmercato.

"
Glasgow Celtic – the mind-blowing statistics of Moussa Dembélé!
Published 29 Sep 2016 by Alexis Pereira

Moussa Dembélé has cemented his good start to the season by scoring a brace against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City (3-3). A great performance by the French Glasgow Celtic striker.

End of the quest.
Manchester City failed to string together its 11th win in a row in all competitions since the start of the season. Pep Guardiola’s men were stunnedby their 3-3 draw with Celtic, this Wednesday evening. One player especially inflicted pain on the Catalan’s protégés, the Frenchman Moussa Dembélé (20years old). In line with his good start, the Bhoys striker shone in the face of City’s defence, helping himself to a double. The former graduate of PSG’s academy initially distinguished himself by his positional nous by opening the score from a cut-back (3 mins).

He went on to display his technique and ability to score the 3rd goal at the start of the second half (48mins). A superb sequence of control and acrobatics gave the wrong- footed Claudio Bravo no chance. A choice double against illustrious opponents just days after his impressive hat trick (one on the left foot, one on the right and a header) during the Old Firm match against Glasgow Rangers : the Frenchy (sic) is in fine form!

“We are very lucky to have Moussa. He was being tracked by lots of clubs before joining us. He has been tremendous since he came to us. I thought that he caused panic in the Manchester City defence. But it’s not only that! He has displayed all his class and agility at the 3rd goal. He has shown all his power and strength. Moussa is an enormous talent and he was sensational”, relished his manager Brendon Rodgers in the press conference, relayed by the Scottish Sun.

A crazy night in line with his start to the season

The native of Pointoise, too, was smiling. “It was great to play in front of. As a striker, I always want to score, today I netted two. It’s great for Celtic, It’s good for me. I’ve been saying it since I arrived, Celtic deserves to be playing in the Champions League. We have proved it tonight (Wednesday). We can cause anyone problems when we play in this aggressive, attacking way. If you want to grow and progress, you have to play big matches and prove what you can do. That's what I tried to do. I also try to help the team defensively”, he asserted at the bi-lingual conference.

@MDembele_10 has scored 12 goals in his last 8 games at Celtic Park - the Bhoy loves playing at Paradise!

*****

Charecterisations: “sensational”, “great ball retention”, “fear-inducing”, “on-fire”, (Scottish Sun); “spectacular”, “phenomenal”, “in the right place at the right time”, (Daily Record, which marked him 8/10) – reflect his performance. Since joining the Hoops, he has already scored 12 times in 16 appearances in all competitions. At Parkhead, he is in his element since he has found the back of the net in the nine matched he has played on this hallowed turf. If he keeps up this rate up for the complete season Moussa Dembélé should soon be being talked about on the transfer market and, why not, for the French national team.

Really? Is that how it read or just your interpretation of it? Said from the off he would improve with games and coaching. Hasn't that happened then?

Not quite. Here's what you said "from the off":

Quote:

I'm rapidly running out of patience with this guy. His close ball control in and around the box is non existent as is his heading ability. Every time he takes a player on he loses the ball and there is no movement into space when we are on the attack. I'm writing this after he has taken a ball down the left hand side and set up Griff with a not so bad run. Forrest just centred for us and instead of going towards the ball on the centre of the six yard box he runs to the far post behind two defenders. Needs to improve v quickly.

No, you said he would improve with good coaching and Rodgers' input. You didn't mention games or settling in in that post.

The inference was he was sub-standard and still needed to work on his game. You were in a minority of those who thought so, and have been proven spectacularly wrong before October.

Instead of dredging up posts and attempting to manipulate what you meant at the time, have the decency to admit you were wrong. It happens

Smiley isnae the only one to think you're at it. For clarity you literally said the following, a mere 4 hours ago:

I've watched Dembele and commented on his ability since day one. I've mentioned where he's good and where's he's poor. The coaching staff have also taken these points on board and worked 1-1 with him to improve his overall game. He's not quite there yet but close to being a very good striker. Enjoy the ride.

The first part of this post certainly looks like you're trying to claim some credit for advising the coaching staff on his ability. They've taken your analysis on board, huh? And your pithy "Enjoy the ride" sign off (as if Dembele being a good footballer has effing anything to do with you and/or your posts, on his thread, on a Celtic fan messageboard) reads as a effing boast.

In short, simmer doon.

He looked very raw when he first came to Celtic and took a bit of time - his progress has been incredibly rapid though.

I like the big man. Thought his barny with Brown after his lazy pass cost us possession and the goal was another we glimpse of his arrogance. Then again maybe brown shouldn't have called him out, he's only 19 after all.

He'll be gone a lot sooner than people think IMO.
I think Broony could have won that ball. He hesitated. I still think there is a lot of work for City to do at that point. Silva has to pick out a great ball and Sterling takes two players out the game.
it was broonys fault, good pass that meant all brown had to do was take one touch and he was away. As you said he hesitated.

Disagree. Dembele selt him short.. broony in the middle of the park under pressure is expecting a firm pass to feet.. dembele doesn't give him this. Soon as the short pass is made, sterling is off. Tierney caught out as he is beginning to move forward anticipating us having the ball. Tierney does well to get back to challenge. But from the ball getting nipped away it's easy possession and a slide ball. With sterling properly quick and already stealing a march on the wee man it was a gift.

Spot on. There doesn't appear to be a weakness in his game. All he lacks is experience which he'll get here before making us a fortune. 20m minimum is where the bids should open.
