4m quid on the park? Rather we got a right back or a Centre half instead of fancy effing lights.

You're right. There's no way two things can be accomplished at the same time.
Let's hope so.

Knowing Celtic though...

Maybe the lights have laser accuracy and can be used against opposing strikers by temporarily blinding them as they attempt to shoot.

Yep. Can wait to have new shiny lights to look up at when Neymar is running by Lustig with a metal hip in September.

From Amsterdam.

Looks like we've gone from guiding in the Luftwaffe to communicating with the aliens.
Hopefully this is a AI led business & is improving exponentially :suspect:
Certainly doesn't look worth £2.3m to me.
A "Light Show"? Seriously?

Hopefully things have moved on a fair bit since Ajax installed theirs, cos that's not very impressive for £2.3m.
Our floodlights need replaced, the colour temp is poor and they're not that bright. CL games from Celtic Park are noticably dimmer. There are UEFA standards for lighting (http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/uefaorg/General/02/36/26/72/2362672_DOWNLOAD.pdf), and frankly I doubt we're a class B nevermind A or Elite

There will also be a long run cost saving switching to LED

Once the fancy lights are really bedded in and performing we're going to sell them on to Southampton for £12m quid though

Cheaper just to put a kaleidoscope on ever seat.

It would have been more entertaining than the performance last night too.

Long run cost saving? :chuffed:

Need to be going some in LED efficiency at £2.3m :twitch:

All my lights in the house are LED, so I'm onboard - but that's stretching it.

Seems very, very overpriced.

LED lights are probably my favourite invention of the modern age. Great in the home and fantastic in torches, a real energy saver and a big upgrade on those old eco lights which took half an hour to warm up. If it was up to me I'd spend our entire player budget on them and just send out 11 strobe lights onto the pitch and hope for the best.

Final score: Celtic Strobe Lights 7 - 0 Sevco Rangers

Sure I read a while ago that the lighting and PA system had been tested and wasn’t up to champions league standard and possibly BT had brought the issue up?

In the case of Morelos it might make him get a shot on target.

Great investments that will help to buy players way into the future.

These are the foundations that will help us dominate at home for years to come and build our capability to compete in Europe despite the TV money fiddle by the bigger nations. We can spend all our time moaning about this or do something that counteracts it by getting income into the club via match day revenue.

The whole experience of Celtic Park is changing and getting kids to go continues to get easier. My 7y/o nephew loves the hour before the game at the Celtic Way, watching the Green Brigade and doing the huddle. He is starting to get the football part of it but it is an aside for now which he is growing in to. He only really cares about KT and Moussa for now. He got to take a couple of friends to one of the most boring games of the season and they still talk about it as though they had been to Seville, they can’t wait to get back to a couple of games next year.

Things like the light show will make this an even easier sell to kids who will maybe spend 10s of thousands over the years following the club.

Kids don’t get into football because of great football, they don’t even understand what great football is. They get hooked through other things, for me it was feeling part of something with adults which then became a love of King Kenny and then a love for Celtic that will last a lifetime. At the time there wasn’t much else to do so it is what you done, the options today for kids are totally different and football needs to work harder to attract and keep their attention.

Granted £2.3m spent on another player might get us a few extra points or entertainment, but tike consumables it will be gone when it’s gone. We need to strike the balance between the long and short term passing the marshmallow test as often as we can.

I’m sure Fergus heard the argument for success ‘now’ every time he made a long term investment. We are enjoying what we are now because 25 years ago someone delayed our gratification. If that meant Rangers getting 9 in a row so be it, it was all about Celtic’s future.

If we can keep adding little layers of enjoyment to the day for all we will continue to find ways of getting money into the club that doesn’t just feel like we are having our pockets emptied because we fear our rivals may spend more. It should be something we want to do rather than something we fear not doing.

Hopefully more investments coming that pay themselves back over and over continuing to fund a virtuous cycle.

Instead of a fancy light show, it would be much cheaper to turn the lights off when we’re 5 down against Paris at half time.
