Planning was granted on the 29th of September for the Hotel, etc.

Summary

Documents

Architectural and Engineering design will be going on apace right now, with tenders to build invited probably early next year - depending on investor and/or partners, Celtic are a Football Club, not a hotel company so would be getting into bed with someone who is.

The hotel building would still have to go through Building Control, but the main objection is out of the way now.
Forrest Advertising are involved with the Radisson Red that we are on site with down at the SECC.
With them being involved at Celtic, I wouldn't put it past a Raddison Green being built.

It's Forrest Developments doing the hotel down at the SECC, but it's same people in control more or less

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Exactly. This is just a disaster for fans who have any distance to travel or are not particularly mobile.
I travel from Edinburgh and my options are
1. drive - I generally leave at 1pm and get back about 6. I am away for 5 hours.
2. supporters bus - I need to get into City centre. I would need to leave my house at 12 and not get back until 7 ish.
3. Train - as above but probably takes a bit longer.
Golf is in decline (amongst other things) because people just cannot justify the time taken for a round. If I had to add 2 hours onto my day then I would need to think about whether I can justify this on a weekly basis. I could park outside the zone but how long before the cordon is extended and my Dad struggles with walking any great distances.
I can understand the frustration of locals but if someone is parking irresponsibly, there is legislation in force to deal with that.
I suspect this will happen but the Club should be taking a lead on this. Celtic is also very good for the area and this should not be underestimated.
You can get a direct train from Edinburgh to Bellgrove which is a 15 minute walk from the ground. 1pm train would get you to Bellgrove for just after 2.

The parking restrictions are being implemented City-wide as far as I can tell; they’re currently in the process of rolling these out across Partick so it’s clearly part of a wider approach to remove free on street parking in high demand areas.
I know parking spaces around Hyndland and parts of Partick are at a premium but that seems completely disproportionate.

LENNOXTOWN:

Plenty of photos in the last few days of Celtic players training outdoors in freezing conditions - anyone able to provide an update on the Air Dome which the board committed to earlier this year?

Not in the the stadium, but noticed things getting installed in Janefield St, right next to the metal bollards. Don't know if it's somehow related to all the stuff about the season cards? :ponder:

Looks like a barrier for traffic, the new bollards have been erected in a manner which means that would be the access point for traffic. Used to drive down that way when visiting the tkt office, that won't be happening anymore.

There was also a big neon sign with a 5mph warning on it erected under the 'tunnel' behind the main stand. Must be changing the car access to the stadium or summit.

fun and games the amount of folk walking straight into the gate trying to leave the other night. surprised with all the work done in recent years the areas leaving cp havent been more well lit and the ground levelled out

Pitch hasn't looked great lately, hopefully it will be fixed with the last installment on the pitch in the summer so it will stay fine all year long

Pretty shambolic trying to get out of the gates at the corner of the North Stand & Jock Stein yesterday with punters going in all directions. Police & Stewards standing right next to it doing eff all.

The closing of the gate in the underpass at full time is the cause. It’s supposedly a H&S issue but all it does is push the problem to inside the stadium.

Yep, the amount of crushing inside the corridors of the upper north stand is an accident waiting to happen.

Situation wasn't helped by two guys setting about each other causing a supporter with a walking stick to take a tumble. Police intervened very quickly before it escalated.

That's exactly what happens. Closing the gate, if anything, causes a bigger concern.
If you want to walk back to the Forge, for example, but you sit in sections 405 or up, then you have to go down the 404 or lower stairwell.
Hundreds, if not thousands, do this, and it leaves you feeling like a sardine. A few of us were left laughing at how ridiculous the situation was.

Just open the gates, they help nothing.

Or if you're like me and want back to Parkhead Cross, you need out at 406. It's a massive pain and will cause an accident soon.
