18m, I'd much rather Celtic were sinking that kind of money into improving our youth set up further or the first team squad.

Seems a lot of money.
What specifically could you spend money on that'd improve the youths though? Their training facilities, coaches etc. are as good as we can give them. With the hotel, we must be confident of making a return on it so it'll arguably guarantee additional income each year that we can then spend on the first team etc.
Better coaches for a start. Both BR and RD stated the need for a full size indoor pitch at Lennoxtown.

I read a post below this one, which stated that the hotel chain will be putting up some of the money as well, which I wasn't taking into account. Just seemed a mental outlay.

As others have said, club must be pretty certain that this is a money maker though.

I remember seeing this thing (on the internet) about making cloth out spider silk. Apparently it's very costly what with the difficulty in harvesting spider silk out of a spider's bum and all. I'd like to have the youth's boots laced with this silk. I'd also like some kind of monorail to transport them from the changing room to the pitch side. I've been on one of these at Disneyland and I think it will pay for itself.

A full size indoor pitch with astroturf that BR will then say Jozo cannae play on coz of his knees?

I'm sure the hotel group will be paying towards it so we'll likely be funding part of it and allowing our name to be used etc.

Celtic aren't actually going to be taking £18m out of the bank to pay for this.

Great news that corner is a blight on the rest of the front of the stadium.

Would have liked a fan zone of some sort we have the room for it.

The club's statement on this feels a tad non-committal.

http://www.celticfc.net/news/13307

"It is important to emphasise that considerable work and investment over a number of years would be required to bring this project to fruition.

...but we understand there would be a number of challenges to overcome to complete a development of this scale.

...there is still considerable work to be done in bringing such an ambitious project to fruition. However, we will now engage with other relevant parties to assess this potential development."
Is that the old mines being cited again?

Would be brilliant, if the club thought in locations for the local community in the development of the area - indoor swimming pools, community center, kindergartens etc to get the hole area integrated instead of only being Celtic

£18m is a small outlay for the money this will make the club in the long term, and as others have posted, we won't be paying for this by ourselves.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think that's why we have local Councils.

Must be some size of hole to get all those things into it.
