Just don't put Ann Budge in charge of the redevelopment.
I love the new Wernhem Graeme Hogg stand.
It looks really impressive if you don't stare directly at it

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
The arches at the bottom pf Janefield st. :twitch:
I don't want to go off track here too much, but did anyone as a child in the 70s walk to the games past Stamford.st onto Janefield.st. If you went too early the local apaches would ambush you at the closes as their parents watched from the balconies. I got my tammy nabbed from me and rattled over the head with an iron bar at age 11. Different days now. My assailants probably live in they bought hooses in the area.
I can remember my auld man saying on more than one occasion as we walked behind the old Celtic End that the street down there ( Stanford St) was the worst street in Glasgow

Can anyone tell me the name of the wee bar that me and pals used to visit on matchdays in the 80's?

Was close to the Celtic End of the .ground, had nae windaes and sat on waste land. Remember being served through a wee wire-surrounded hatch.

Had some very interesting patrons.

Defo the grange.

effing sweat box where the staff were behind a cage to protect them from the clientele
The odd rebel tune was known to be heard too

Just had a thought, as part of the match day experience they could recreate this as part of a museum or tour and show the young mob what their dads / uncles etc. went through to watch their team

Saw on twitter this morning (I know) that the hotel/museum building etc is estimated to cost £18m - that's a lot of money.
It’s not really a lot of money at all for construction of any significance

Great idea. An interaction experience, where visitors can recreate the thrill of having their pockets dipped during the gauntlet walk through the corridor to the bar, or being given a hard stare instead of change from your £1 note when coerced into buying Ireland's War...

Always thought it looked like the front of a Victorian prison. Same architect as Ibrokes apparently. Their's looks a lot more decorative because they were much better off than we were back then. Or so I've been told.

I think I'd unironically be down for that

Like Tenement House, except a pub.

Fantastic example of Archie Leitche's work.Thankfully its preserved behind the hideous Brookside style front we have today.

I remember it being totally hideous. Lacking a pleasing symmetry and quite obviously done to a lesser standard than the Ibrox facade.

The current facia is pretty ghastly, but the current board have tried hard to raise the aesthetic with the Celtic way, paving and new fluorescent lettering etc.

Problem is you can only piss with the cock you've got. Regardless of the surroundings, that fascia is still horrible.

Probably best fits in here. There's plans for Glasgow's memorial to the Irish Famine to be placed at St Mary's Church in the Calton.

Apparently an agreement couldn't be reached with the council for a city centre location.

Thanks for all the replies re The Grange.

It was some place right enough! As young lads we always, always put plenty change into the never ending supply of 'collection tins'. Wonder what they were collecting for? :ponder:

:ph43r:

Am I correct in saying there was another boozer close by called Camlachie or something?

I like the current facade as well.

I mind the Grange, some place, only pub I've been in where you got served through a grill around the bar. I remember a massive fight breaking out in it, bottles glasses chairs all flying. No idea what it was about.
Took some non-football supporting friends from the Borders there the night of the Rapid Vienna game, they couldn't believe a place like that existed, never mind their reaction to the shenanigans at the game itself!
