If Celtic were to add a new tier to the north stand, couldn't we just do what we did with the Lisbon Upper?

Put down canvas covers for games with reduced capacity then take them off for the big nights. With a bit of creative thinking it might look quite good and also gives the club the option of extra seat revenue.

Even if we were a Premiership club I'm not sure we could pull a crowd of 80,000 most weeks. Would it make more sense to aim for 70,000 instead?
Nonsense. It would hang over the graveyard and stop all the souls ascending to heaven. :ph43r:

The English clubs upgrading their stadiums at ridiculous costs seem to be doing so to obtain the corporate £. Those West Ham fans must have been greetin looking at the pictures of Upton Park being torn down while they sit inside an athletics stadium now masquerading as a football stadium...and a soleless one at that.

If they opened up a Timpsons franchise in the concourse that may help.

Done the tour earlier today, was interesting enough albeit the old guy doing it didn't half ramble on at times, tour took 2 1/2 hours!

He did say they are planning to bring the main stand in line with the rest of the stadium fairly soon.

Have they seen the attendances? There isn't even a waiting list for ST's.

Think they've been saying that stuff about the South Stand for a few years now. Probably part of a script.

Redevelopment of the south stand isn't about increasing seats, it's about the facilities. Better hospitality, museum, better player facilities, cafe, ticketing.... If there ends up being a few thousand extra seats, jobs a good un. If we end up CL regulars, it'll pay for itself in under 5 years. Look at Arsenal..... Stadium income rose from £30 million to over £100 million. We would never see that kind if increase but every little helps.... Would you rather see a nondescript office block planked to the right of the Celtic Way or a shiny new glass fronted stand with all the new facilities as part of the stadium?

100% behind this from a personal perspective

However , Wasn't it mentioned at an AGM that the costs for this would would take too long to recover e.g it wasn't economically viable at this time ?

You get the feeling that the financial policy has been updated since then given what BR is doing. It might not be revised enough to include a major refit of one of the stands right enough but I think we're more likely to do this where we are currently than at any point in the past 10 years.

I done the tour the week before Christmas and the tour guide never mentioned it . However the last time i done it about 10 years ago the tour guide said they were planning to move the tunnel to the corner of the main stand / Celtic end ,like Old Trafford.

Wouldn't they have done up the South Stand before completing the Celtic Way? I imagine there would be a lot of disruption and digging up around the front of the stadium.

As someone who has recently moved into the main stand after 20 years in the North Stand, I would suggest the money would be better spent upgrading the facilities inside there to bring them out of the 60's :(

Where did Arsenal's increased revenue come from? Naming rights from Emirates? Increased ticket prices? Not from bums on seats or fancy pies. Would be great to see but unless we have a major sponsor wanting to rename the stadium i doubt that we'll see it.

Arsenal went from a 300 capacity for hospitality to 6000....they coin it in on matchday now. Instead of punters putting money into the coffers of local pubs and hotels, they pour it into Arsenal. The £100 million is matchday revenue, not sponsorship

Thats impressive then. Could we expect that level of uptake from corporate junkets?

Definitely not. Arsenal command the London premium and have the glamour of the Premiership.
