The next phase of the improvements, shouldn't be building stuff. It should be simple things like leveling and tarmacing the car parks, better lighting, marked bays, disabled bays etc

Agreed. The surface at the bottom of the stairs at the Main Stand/Celtic End is treacherous whenever it rains.

https://www.wired.com/2015/11/the-future-of-stadiums-might-be-no-stadium-at-all/

Pop up stadiums have been talked about a lot in the American media today with some NFL teams moving cities. Basically tax payers are finally refusing to pay for new stadiums and they need to make cheap alternatives.

Pop up stadiums seem to be an alternative to this and can have facilities etc put in at a fraction of the price of a full stadium. Their's talk the Chargers may be doing this to part of LA Galaxy's stadium next year while they play there for a season or two.

If it ever becomes fashionable and takes off, especially in European football, I wonder if Celtic would ever look into it for the South stand. Essentially make the stand as big or small as need depending on demand. Talking way way into the future though.
Have thought about the possibility of the 'pop up' stadiums for a while. The Japanese one mentioned in that article goes from an arena to a full scale stadium. The difference for football clubs i guess is that they need to remain a stadium, but reduce capacity. Ideally you would want a 2 tier stadium to collapse into a 1 tier. Would be amazing to see.

The new Atlanta Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a great example of that. They can go from 83,000 down to 40,000 for Atlanta United MLS games, using a
mechanized curtaining system.

Just a matter of finding the $1.2 billion needed to build it.

$1.2bn?!

I'd settle for a couple of new 1500 seat stands at Firhill and Douglas Park to make it look like Scottish top flight football wasn't being played in arenas that look like public parks.

That's just hiding some seats with a curtain. Not the same as pop up stadium or a temporary/collapsible 2nd tier.

Given that Lhennoxtown doesnt exist, can we really rely on the Board to do a good job on Celtic Park?

My younger daughter's pal has just moved there. Her husband, Chris McCann, ex Burnley and Wigan has just signed for them. Says the stadium has to be seen to be believed.

It looks amazimg, crazy though that the old stadium was only built in 1992 but was the last of the domes making it unfashionable. Same with the baseball team, their stadium was built in 1996 and are moving.

If Celtic were to add a new tier to the south stand, couldn't we just do what we did with the Lisbon Upper?

Put down canvas covers for games with reduced capacity then take them off for the big nights. With a bit of creative thinking it might look quite good and also gives the club the option of extra seat revenue.

Even if we were a Premiership club I'm not sure we could pull a crowd of 80,000 most weeks. Would it make more sense to aim for 70,000 instead?

They are building the roof of that in sections in Ireland and then shipping them over.
Looks not bad, for Spurs I suppose.

Fulham are also getting a new stand built that has to have cranes on barges in the river as there is no room for them anywhere else.
